Attended college in Melbourne, Australia. With friends from college, launched an early-80s comedy show on Australian TV called The D Generation (1986). In late 80s/early 90s, appeared in comedy show on Australian TV called Fast Forward (1989).

Wrote and performed in the 1985 Melbourne University Revue "Too Cool for Sandals", with Michael Veitch and Tom Gleisner amongst others.
Attended Siena College (A Secondary School for Girls) in Camberwell, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Turned down a film role with Richard Gere to star in the second series of Kath & Kim (2002).
Has been named an Australian ambassador for Jenny Craig.
Her father was Polish. Her mother was born in Scotland, and was of Irish and Scottish ancestry.
