Netflix's The Punisher Series Is Totally Unlike The Other Marvel Shows

10 July 2017 11:02 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Jon Bernthal's appearance as Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) in last year's Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix was a huge breakout moment for both actor and series. The conflict, tension, action, and general bad-assery of Bernthal's Punisher was beyond anyone's wildest expectations. The final scene of the season's first episode, midnight on a Hell's Kitchen rooftop sighting a scumbag through sniper scope -- and the subsequent hand-to-hand battle with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) -- set an explosive tone and attitude for the entire season.

Bernthal conveyed strength, vulnerability, and (dark) humor while exuding a coiled-spring menace that made it impossible to know what he would do from one moment to the next. His performance was so powerful that barely a month after Daredevil Season 2 dropped, a well-earned (and highly-anticipated) spin-off was greenlit. We last saw Castle burning his house to the ground and providing cover fire for Daredevil in the season »

Marvel Director Stephen Surjik Teases A More Adult-Oriented Drama Ahead Of The Punisher

10 July 2017 9:45 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With directing credits on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron FistStephen Surjik knows a thing or two about Marvel’s roster of small-screen content.

It’s one that will expand next month thanks to the release of The Defenders, a superhero ensemble series that gathers together those four aforementioned freaks soon after New York City is thrust into peril – and not for the first time. But beyond the show’s August premiere, there’s another Marvel and Netflix property teetering on the edge of the release, and it’ll feature a certain Frank Castle.

Otherwise known as The Punisher, Jon Bernthal’s gun-toting vigilante was first introduced via the second season of Daredevil, when Matt Murdock’s Man Without Fear went up against The Hand. Building on their nervy friendship, we know that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page will appear alongside Bernthal when The Punisher arrives later this year, »

The Punisher aiming for different approach to other Marvel TV shows

10 July 2017 3:14 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The television side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong for a few years now, and has generally been well-received. Better yet: the shows are all drastically different from one another in content, and tone. Daredevil and Iron First have been full of action, while Jessica Jones focused more on character, and mature themes. Luke Cage had the most distinct tone so far, with its awesome ’70s blaxploitation feel.

Up next on the roster is Marvel’s The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) as Frank Castle. So, with the varied tones of each show, what will Frank Castle’s first solo-outing be like? One of The Punisher season one directors Stephen Surjik recently talked to Combat Radio about the different approach that is being taken with the upcoming series…

“It is different than the other Marvel shows as far as it is an adult drama. There are no superpowers. »

Iron Fist: Episode Titles And Directors Revealed For Marvel’s Fourth Solo Series

23 January 2017 3:02 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Curious to get a taste of the hero’s journey that awaits Danny Rand? Bleeding Cool has unearthed almost all of the spoiler-y episode titles for Marvel’s upcoming Iron Fist series, not to mention the directors attached to each installment.

In keeping with previous collaborations between the studio and Netflix, Iron Fist‘s inaugural season is comprised of 13 episodes in total – The Defenders is the exception to the rule, given Marvel’s team-up series will span only 8 episodes – and we now understand that John Dahl, Tom Shankland, Uta Briesewitz, Farren Blackburn, Kevin Tancharoen, Deborah Chow and Stephen Surjik are among the directors on board. All of this data was pulled from listings published by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification), which also revealed that episode 7, “Felling With Tree Routes,” will be rated 18 in the UK for “strong bloody violence.”

That means the eventual DVD will be rated 18 in the territory, »
