The Heart of No Place -- Find your path on a map drawn with glass, milk and sugar

The first half of the final chapter showing Y.'s inner experience of performing her "Nailing Piece," inspired by Yoko Ono's "Painting to Hammer a Nail In." There are many versions of this "Painting" by Ono, ranging from the "Instruction Paintings" series to the 1999 version in which she herself hammered a nail into a life-size wooden cross. While her earlier pieces ("Paintings to Hammer a Nail," 1961 & 1962) are referenced in Y.'s other artworks with broken glass that occur throughout the film, this 1999 version was the direct inspiration for this scene. In "The Heart of No Place," the cross becomes a painter's easel, a symbol of Y.'s psychic pain. As the easel is carried away by Atlas - at once the Geopoliticus Child and the New Man, thoughts that occur to Y. are on the limits and destiny of the freemarket capitalism.

Ms. Ono's generous permission to use her song was a catalyst that prompted me to shoot additional footage for the scene, and in completion of the film. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors -- As Freddy Krueger continues his murdering, the kids, led by Freddie's main opponent in the first film, prepare to fight back. The Heart of No Place -- What would you think if someone told you that Yoko Ono had been planted by a Japanese corporation to break up the Beatles? Weren’t the Americans – their hardware industries sinking and hopes for their intellectual-properties commodities rising – more likely to profit from their absence?
