Second trailer for disaster epic ‘Geostorm’

8 July 2017 9:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for their disaster flick Geostorm, which stars Gerard Butler, Katheryn Winnick, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia and Ed Harris. Directed by Dean Devlin, the film sees the world’s weather go haywire after the satellites controlling the weather are hacked, wreaking havoc across the planet. Looks like a combination of every Roland Emmerich disaster film rolled into one outrageous package if you ask me… 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, even Independence Day (given that its a force “outside” Earth causing the problems).

When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth’s very survival, world governments unite to create a global network of satellites armed with technologies designed to stave off natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for years, something goes wrong. Two estranged brothers must repair the program’s malfunction before a worldwide Geostorm engulfs the planet.

Geostorm will be released on October 20th. »

New Geostorm Trailer Promises Destruction On An Epic Scale

6 July 2017 5:22 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Gerard Butler has done it all – when it comes to movies, that is. He’s fought against an army of Persians in 300, broken our hearts in P.S. I Love You, and saved the President of the United States not once, but twice, across Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. With Geostorm though, the Scottish actor is going up against what’s perhaps his greatest enemy yet: Mother Nature.

Skydance has peeled back the curtain once again to deliver another jaw-dropping trailer for the film, which triggers a storm of biblical proportions. Caught up in the midst of that global catastrophe is Butler’s astronaut, who’s sent to space on a mission to course-correct humanity’s climate-controlling satellites. But those same instruments designed to mitigate natural disasters soon become mankind’s worst enemy, and while suspended in outer space, Butler’s lead character uncovers a plot to assassinate the Potus – and no, »

Thoughts I Had... The "Geostorm" Trailer

6 July 2017 5:00 PM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Chris here. It's been a long time since we got a good old fashioned disaster flick, right? Luckily Geostorm is here to fill the silly void this fall.

The film stars Gerard Butler (as if you had to ask) in a world where satellites help ward off the perils of global warming. When the system gets hacked (or something, science is hard), Butler and crew is sent into space to investigate while Jim Sturgess is our hero on the ground. From the looks of the first trailer, there is a whole lot going on, from explosions to tornado armies to an Andy Garcia president. Naturally, I have some thoughts: »

Second Trailer for Campy Global Weather Disaster Movie 'Geostorm'

6 July 2017 11:36 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We have to shut the system down!" Warner Bros has unveiled a second official trailer for a disaster movie titled Geostorm, set sometime in the near future about a series of satellites that control the weather. This looks absolutely ridiculous, and not in a good way. It looks so campy, so bad, with so many stolen lines and ideas from other movies, and then there's Gerard Butler as a cocky astronaut dude who gets to save the world because someone sabotaged the weather system. Yeah, it looks truly terrible. The full cast includes Jim Sturgess (why is he in this?!), Abbie Cornish (and why is she in this?!), Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, with Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Andy Garcia. I don't even know where to start with this, everything about it is bad bad bad. I can't even say it looks fun to watch - it doesn't. Stay far, »

New Geostorm Trailer Harkens Back to the Glory Days of Disaster Films

The first teaser for Geostorm showcased a wide range of destruction, as we might expect from Dean Devlin, the producer of Independence Day. The new trailer offers some of the story, and a whole bunch of Gerard Butler. Butler is, of course, "The Man Who Keeps Saving the U.S. President," as in Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen . Now he kidnaps the President, played by Andy Garcia, while teamed up with Abbie Cornish, who provides a fresh face in a would-be blockbuster. Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Robert Sheehan, Zazie Beetz, Mare Winningham, and Daniel Wu (?!) are also featured. Have a look below, and then say goodbye to the billion pixels that died to bring us this disaster picture. Geostorm is due in...

Geostorm Trailer #2 Takes Climate Change to the Extreme

6 July 2017 10:41 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for Geostorm, showcasing the devastating effects of a very extreme version of "climate change." While this fictional tale surely won't sway the naysayers who think climate change is a hoax, with these massive action set pieces that show various forms of weather systems getting extremely out of control, it certainly could provide some big-budget escapism from the current political climate. This trailer hints that Geostorm may in fact be the most action-packed movie to hit theaters all year, and it could also be a dark horse box office blockbuster, starring Gerard Butler.

The story is set in the aftermath of an unprecedented series of natural disasters that threatened the planet in ways never been seen before, which lead the world's leaders to come together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. Brace yourself for a wave of CGI explosion as new Geostorm trailer arrives

Independence Day scribe, Dean Devlin, makes his directorial debut in the forthcoming disaster movie, Geostorm. And to give us a further taste of what to expect another trailer has just dropped.

Related: Geostorm first trailer.

The new trailer gives us another impressive look at the visual wonderment of CGI in creating a world under threat by natural forces that can’t and shouldn’t be controlled by manmade machines and Gerard Butler’s race against time, yet again, to save the world from impending danger.

It’s funny how life sometimes imitates art, anyone would think Donald Trump may have gotten hold of the script for Geostorm in which satellites are built to control global climate change and took it quite literally, tweaked it a little for his own mind to digest when he boldly stated climate change wasn’t caused by humans.

Geostorm has a cast that includes Gerard Butler, »

You’re struggling to make time for Twin Peaks. New Game Of Thrones is just around the corner. And guess what, Netflix UK have just added a whole new season of It’s Always Sunny, those sods. You need a list of new TV show recommendations like you need a hole in the head.

Cannes Ends with…Awards — 3rd of 3

The heightened security with machine gun armed soldiers and policemen constantly patrolling was intensified after the Manchester Massacre. With a pall over the festival, one minute of silence was observed for the 22 murdered and flags hung at half-mast. In addition to that, the sudden death at 57 of the Busan Film Festival deputy director Kim Ji-seok and that of the James Bond star Roger Moore brought the film world into a new perspective as we join the larger world to face the random indications of human mortality. High security vs. cinema as a sanctuary of freedom is highlighted this year like no other time that I can recall in my 31 years here.President of the jury, Pedro Almodovar

Drama Makes the Running at 2017 MipTV

1 April 2017 11:41 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Cannes — “American Gods,” “Ride Upon the Storm,” from “Borgen” creator Adam Price, and Beta Films’ very high-end “Babylon Berlin,” co-directed by Tom Tykwer (“Cloud Atlas”), all bow at a 2017 MipTV trade fair which captures the world’s TV industry in fairly dramatic transition.

Pay TV ($204 billion last year) passed TV advertising ($182 billion) as the single biggest source of funding for the TV economy, according to Ampere Analysis, which will present an analysis of future TV at Mip. By 2021, Ott subscriptions in the U.S. and Western Europe will pass traditional pay subs as the favorite way to watch TV.

Already, at 142 million to pay TV’s 219 million in 2016, Ott subs ranked way above free TV households (109 million) in the Western Europe/U.S. in 2016, a recent Ampere Analysis study suggested.

Traditional TV groups still accounted for 80% of TV spend in 2016 in the U.S. and Western Europe. But, up from »

Amber Heard is hardly known for shyness in Hollywood, but she doesn’t take off her clothes for just any filmmaker, according to contentious legal battle over nude scenes in the film “London Fields.” The dispute, she asserts, unmasks the “dark underbelly” of film nudity in Hollywood. Enjoy.

The first of only four specials ever filmed by the legendary comedian, this 45-minute stand-up set from 1978 was released on VHS in 1985 and has never been available to stream before (legally). Almost universally revered by comedians of all stripes, this special has stayed relatively obscure due to an uneven performance from Pryor. Still, you can learn from a genius even on a bad day.
