2 'Cut Bank' Posters: Good Folks, Bad Deeds

20 February 2015 4:24 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Instead of using star Liam Hemsworth to sell the drama Cut Bank, A24 has released two very different posters utilizing two very different styles. The first one-sheet takes on the look and tone of a 1970s thriller. The second piece of art weighs heavily to the left of that, evoking memories of Norman Rockwell.

Liam Hemsworth stars as&#160Dwayne McLaren in Cut Bank, a young man who dreams of &#160escaping small town life with his girlfriend Cassandra (Teresa Palmer). When Dwayne witnesses an awful crime, he tries to leverage a bad situation into a scheme to get rich quickly but he finds that fate and an unruly accomplice are working against him. Thrust into the middle of a police investigation spearheaded by the local sheriff (John Malkovich), everything goes from bad to worse in this all-American thriller.

No other details of his role nor how prominent it will prove to be were shared at this time.

Oritz now joins a growing ensemble cast for Boyle’s production, one that includes Seth Rogen as Jobs’ partner-in-technological-crime Steve Wozniak, not to mention Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, and Makenzie Moss as Lisa Brennan, the Apple co-founder’s daughter. From what we understand, Brennan’s character will have significant part to play in the final product, with the script orbiting around three of the company’s most high-profile product launches within its illustrious history, »

Liam Hemsworth, Teresa Palmer, Billy Bob Thornton, John Malkovich, Bruce Dern, Oliver Platt, and Michael Stuhlbarg —that's a cast worth getting interested in, particularly when they gather for a small town-set thriller like "Cut Bank," and the first trailer has arrived.  Based on the 2009 Black List script by Roberto Patino and directed by TV helmer Matt Shakman ("Fargo," "The Good Wife") making his feature film debut, the film tells the story of Dwayne McLaren (Hemsworth), a young auto mechanic and former high school football star who wants to get the hell out of the frozen-in-time town of Cut Bank, Montana. But he stumbles across a murder and is caught up in a spiral of dangerous events. Reviewing the film last summer at the Los Angeles Film Festival, our Charlie Schmidlin wasn't impressed, calling the picture "a dozy small town caper that never gains a sense of location or thrills."
