17 hours ago | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

With a seemingly endless amount of streaming options — not only the titles at our disposal, but services themselves — we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight the titles that have recently hit platforms. Every week, one will be able to see the cream of the crop (or perhaps some simply interesting picks) of streaming titles (new and old) across platforms such as Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and more (note: U.S. only). Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.

Complete Unknown (Joshua Marston)

Armed with two top-notch leads and a compelling premise, Joshua Marston‘s third feature, Complete Unknown, spends a lot of time hinting at which direction it will go, without going anywhere at all. Tom (Michael Shannon) is living with his wife Rehema (Azita Ghanizada) in New York City, spending the majority of his days drafting agricultural policy emails in a cramped government office. It is »

Three More Motion Posters For Doctor Strange Focus On The Sorcerer Supreme's Allies And Nemesis

28 September 2016 4:05 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

It's been a slow news month for the most part, but expect October to be all about Doctor Strange as Marvel Studios starts to really promote their second Phase 3 release. TV spots, stills, and more are all no doubt on the way, but for now, we have three more motion posters to enjoy. As noted above, these highlight The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen). Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. Set for release on November 4th, later this year, the cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwitel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, and maybe even Robert Downey Jr. Might I offer you some advice, forget everything that you think you know. Kaecilius, Mordo and the Ancient One Get Doctor Strange Character Posters

28 September 2016 10:36 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Yesterday, Marvel unleashed the first three character posters from the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character, Rachel McAdams as Night Nurse and Benedict Wong as Wong, along with new motion posters for each character. It seems that was just the beginning of this one-sheet rollout, with three new character posters featuring Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Mads Mikkelsen as the main villain, Kaecilius. Don't be surprised if another trio of posters arrives tomorrow to ring in the weekend.

Tilda Swinton's casting as The Ancient One was quite controversial for a number of fans, since the character was typically portrayed as an Asian male in the comics. C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote the script with director Scott Derrickson and Jon Spaihts, revealed in a podcast earlier this year that The Ancient One is the equivalent of Star Trek's Kobayashi Maru, »

Doctor Strange Warps Time and Space in 3 New Motion Posters

Earlier today, Marvel Studios announced that fans will be treated to a sneak peek of the new Marvel Phase 3 adventure Doctor Strange with a special theatrical event on Monday, October 10. We also showed you new character posters featuring Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Night Nurse (Rachel McAdams) and Wong (Benedict Wong). Now we have new motion posters featuring all three characters. Marvel also released an IMAX trailer today with brand new footage, to get fans excited for the November 4 debut.

Doctor Strange will mark Marvel's second Phase 3 movie, behind this summer's blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, which currently has the biggest worldwide box office total of any movie this year, with $1.15 billion. Marvel's brand new adventures that introduce new characters into the McU, such as last year's Ant-Man, typically don't bring in huge numbers like the studio's blockbuster sequels, but they typically fare well. Fine fine fine? Reviewing every episode of 'Transparent' season 3

26 September 2016 6:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

On Friday, Amazon released all 10 episodes of Transparent season 3, and I have some general thoughts on the year, followed by a mini-reviews of each episode, coming up just as soon as I say I'm the strip club's It person... As I alluded to in the introduction to my interview with the always-candid Gaby Hoffmann, I found that season 3 worked more in individual moments — or at times for entire episodes — than it did as a season of TV. The character arcs frequently felt like they were jumping from Point A to Point D without worrying about B or C, even though it wasn't structurally all that different from the previous seasons. Great performances, great scenes, and slightly more self-awareness from the Pfeffermans — Maura and Shelly, at least, and maybe Ali — but something was a bit lacking compared to the show's previous heights. Let's go episode-by-episode, and I'll do my best not »
