The releases will feature the theatrical film, as well as a never-before-seen unrated director’s cut of the movie. The film and its unrated version will also be available day and date for digital download and video on demand.
This is great news, as “Robin Hood” is one of the few films released this summer that I’m eager to revisit. Scott’s vision was criticized in certain circles for choosing to focus on Robin’s origins, instead of rehashing the myth we’ve heard countless times before. But that approach worked quite well for me, and I’m anxious to find out if the film holds up on a repeat viewing.

You can bring home the latest film collaboration between Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott on both DVD and Blu-ray this September. Robin Hood will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray on September 21. We don't have any pricing details or cover art images but the film will be released on a bare-bones DVD with no special features, a two-disc special edition and a three-disc Blu-ray edition, which will contain a Digital Copy of the film and also the standard DVD as well. The film stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Max von Sydow, William Hurt, Mark Strong and Danny Huston.

Universal has unwrapped the details on the anticipated unrated director's cut of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, William Hurt and Mark Strong, now definitively set for a Blu-ray Disc and DVD debut on September 21.
The unrated director's cut will run 2:36, roughly 15 minutes longer than the 2:21 theatrical cut. No details are being offered right now on what that footage may include.
The three-disc Blu-ray edition will include a digital copy and the DVD edition on discs 2 and 3. Tech specs on the feature presentation are 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-hd Master Audio. Bonus features are extensive including many Blu-ray exclusives, all of which you can peruse and soak in below.

Cannes, France – Wednesday night at the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival was reserved for an arrowing experience with the premiere of “Robin Hood.” Russell Crowe, who plays the legendary archer in director Ridley Scott’s new film, was on the red carpet.
The festivities include many of the press events, parties and meetings taking place on the luxury sailing vessel the “Signora del Vento,” sponsored by Lancia. The “Robin Hood” meeting with the international press took place on the Signora del Vento on Wednesday, May 12th.
