[re his notes to Eugène Ionesco
's on his play 'Hunger and Thirst'] I had doubts about the second act that I read, and I told Ionesco that when I saw him in Paris. He got up, went into another room and came back with a script. 'How do you like this second act?' he asked. I did.
His Broadway career began in 1953 in 'End as a Man'. He also appeared in the stage version of 'Look Homeward, Angel' in 1957.
