Bill Hader In Talks To Join Reunion Comedy From Yes Man Writers

13 May 2013 7:33 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

How a film.s pitch sounds to another person, regardless of the pitch.s inherent quality, can rely entirely on the lead actor or actress involved. The 2008 comedy Yes Man was fine, I guess, but it had a pitch that seemed to fit soundly into Jim Carrey.s wheelhouse, and it was made better because of it, since the writing of Jarrad Paul, Andrew Mogel and Nicholas Stoller was par for the comedic course. So given Paul and Mogel have written their own directorial debut, which tackles both Hollywood and high school reunions, it would take a certain kind of someone to lead what could become a complete farce. In steps Saturday Night Live.s Bill Hader, who is in talks to take the lead in the tentatively titled Lawless. The film was initially called 20-Year Itch, which makes a lot more sense given the title refers to an actual »

Zac Efron's Biceps Bulge in Tight Fraternity Tee on the Set of New Flick Townies, Sorority Girls Swoon

25 April 2013 9:51 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Feelin' fratty, Zac Efron? The sexy star was spotted on the set of his new flick Townies, where he was snapped taking a break from filming as his bulging biceps stood out in a tight white T-shirt. The 25-year-old hunk was looking very frat-tastic in a fraternity tee and matching tattoo while rocking tight jeans and a belt with a marijuana leaf buckle.  Efron put on his best frat boy front as he strolled around set, looking like the picture-perfect (and superhot!) pledge who would make even the craziest sorority girl swoon.  Directed by Nicholas Stoller and also starring Seth Rogen, the upcoming comedy follows a frat boy whose behavior affects a local neighbor's family life, and we »

Zac Efron's Frat Adds Submarine's Craig Roberts For Townies

24 April 2013 12:57 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Not enough people have watched 2010.s offbeat coming-of-age dramedy Submarine, the first feature film directed by British comedian/writer Richard Ayoade. A handful of the best, as well as zaniest British sitcoms of the past ten years have featured Ayoade in some capacity, and Submarine was a nice subdued version of his talents. On top of that its young star Craig Roberts turned out a brilliant performance, drawing comedy out of pathos as well as situational bits. Roberts should definitely add something different to the usual suspects of Nicholas Stoller.s upcoming comedy Townies, which already stars such names as Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, and recently added Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dave Franco and Rose Byrne to the cast. The plot . which sounds like something these guys are doing on a dare . concerns an ordinary family man (Rogen) and his wife (Byrne) whose life is becoming a constant Hell thanks to »

'Submarine' Star Craig Roberts Joins 'Townies' With Seth Rogen & Zac Efron

23 April 2013 4:32 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Nicholas Stoller’s “Townies,” announced last May, will pit Seth Rogen in an against-type role as a suburban family man against Zac Efron in an against-type role as a rowdy frat boy, two casting choices that we find positively titillating. News that Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse had signed on broke last month, upping the ante. And now it seems that another potential frat brother has been cast.  Craig Roberts, who some will recognize from Richard Ayoade’s directorial debut “Submarine,” is currently filming the project according to his talent agent, Curtis Brown. Roberts has also played smaller roles in “Jane Eyre” and the little-seen “Red Lights," but in "Submarine," he showed a sensitive and sly comic touch, which might be a nice texture to add in the mix here. We know that sticking a bunch of funny people in one place isn’t necessarily a recipe for comedy genius, »

Now it’s time for some tidbits and details about Cameron Diaz who has entered early talks to re-team with her Bad Teacher helmer Jake Kasdan and co-star Jason Segel for the new comedy titled Sex Tape. Diaz was in the mix for female leads when Kasdan boarded the project last April, but now negotiations are taking place with a deal in the near future. The film has been caught in pre-production limbo for quite some time because Segel’s been attached to star since 2011, when his Muppets director Nicholas Stoller was in talks to helm with Reese...

For the upcoming comedy "Townies," Zac Efron will be making his leap to comedy, and he'll be making it in style. The film is being directed by "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" helmer Nicholas Stoller and co-stars Seth Rogen.

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with Efron backstage at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, he talked at length about the mood on set, working with Seth, and the high volume of shirtless scenes that await the audience.

"It's a pretty funny scene towards the end of the movie, but my character starts working at Abercrombie & Fitch," he said. "We were just out there having fun, total improv."

One of the biggest draws for Efron to the project was the chance to work with Rogen and practice a style of comedy he wasn't used to.

New Names Move In For ‘Townies’

27 March 2013 4:30 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Dave Franco (James’ near-identical younger brother) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are looking to move in with Seth Rogen and Zac Efron for Townies.

The film is set to focus on Rogen, a family man who happens to live next door to a university fraternity house filled with randy, boozing young men. When the frat house president (Efron) decides to make Rogen’s life a misery, things turn sour. Franco will feature as Efron’s best buddy and vice-president, but no word as of yet who Mintz-Plasse will play. Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne will play Rogen’s wife.

With Nicholas Stoller (The Five-year Engagement, Get Him To The Greek) as director, Townies could be hilarious. Franco killed it as Cole in Scrubs and I’ve been told he’s brilliant in 21 Jump Street. As for Mintz-Plasse, his geeky, try-too-hard character in Kick-ass is exactly what I picture him to play in this. »

Mintz-Plasse worked with Rogen in 2007's high school comedy Superbad as McLovin, which was also the young actor's film debut.

Dave Franco & Christopher Mintz-Plasse Join Seth Rogen & Zac Efron In 'Townies'

22 March 2013 11:05 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While his last film "The Guilt Trip" proved to be something of a box-office disappointment, Seth Rogen remains as busy as ever: his directorial debut "The End Of The World" hits later in the summer, he's guest-starring on the new season of "Arrested Development," and only yesterday, lined up another potential helming project with partner Evan Goldberg, comedy-thriller "The Interview." But before he can move on to that, Rogen's got to shoot "Townies." Directed by "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Five-Year Engagement" filmmaker Nicholas Stoller, the film sees Rogen as a family man who comes into confrontation with a group of local frat boys that live near his house. Set to be an R-rated comedy, and produced by Rogen and Goldberg, the film already has Zac Efron on board as Rogen's chief adversary, and now Deadline report that he has a couple of co-stars, in the shape of Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. »
