The new company combines Cablevision and Suddenlink, which Altice acquired last year, for a base of 4.6 million subscribers for broadband and video services. Altice USA has operations in 20 states, including Cablevision’s stronghold on the lucrative Long Island market, putting it behind Comcast, Charter Communications (which just acquired Time Warner Cable) and Atlanta-based Cox Communications.

“Altice USA is a key pillar of our business and a powerful and dynamic growth platform,” said Patrick Drahi, Altice founder and controlling shareholder. “We are very excited about our U.S. business and the opportunities we see in this market. ‘Amy’ Helmer Asif Kapadia and Andrew Niccol Plan New Films

28 January 2016 10:58 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Going where many a documentarian have gone before, and often to poor results, Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna) has been tapped for the fiction feature Silver Ghost. It’s perhaps fitting that this also concerns the world of automobiles, albeit in a more relaxed area than Formula 1 racing, being the story of “the creation of the [Rolls-Royce], the odd-couple relationship between Charles Stewart Rolls and Henry Royce, the early days of the aviation industry and a passionate romance.” [Screen Daily]

It’s a passion project-of-sorts for producer Martin Scorsese, who’s been involved since the late Richard Attenborough was developing it. There’s no further word at this moment, but with the director’s Sikelia Productions at the helm (Zuma Productions and Anthony Haas are also involved on that front), one expects it’ll move along quickly.

Meanwhile, THR inform us Andrew Niccol has secured another high-concept sci-fi project, no doubt with the help of Clive Owen. »
