Sony Pictures And Escape Artists Moving Ahead With A Live-Action He-Man Movie

13 December 2011 2:20 PM, PST | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Source: ComingSoon.net via Bleeding Cool Here's a bit of hopeful news for all you 80's cartoon fans out there. While details are scarce, some key execs at both Sony and Escape Artist announced their continued partnership through 2015 and also announced a number of films they plan to make including a new take on He-Man. While details were not forthcoming at this time, it's a sign that things may finally be on track for He-Man to make a triumphant return to the big screen after the less than stellar 1987 take on the character starring Dolph Lundgren. Prior to this announcement, the last reported details on the project back in April of 2010 were that screenwriters Mike Finch (Predators 2010) and Alex Litvak (Predators 2010, The Three Musketeers 2011) would take a stab at the firs draft of a script and that John Stevenson (Kung-Fu Panda) would direct the film. Perfect harmony: how Gareth Malone is marching army wives choir to the top

3 December 2011 4:13 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Britain's favourite choirmaster talks about the secrets of success as his latest project looks set for the Christmas No 1 slot

At a reception in a London hotel, a fresh-faced cadet is wandering through a smiling platoon of military wives, many of them dressed up smartly for a day on the town. Surely he is too young to be sent to war?

"He has not ironed the creases on that uniform right," says Donna Sutcliffe, wife of a corporal, with an indulgent smile at the cadet. "To us Gareth is a completely ordinary bloke."

This slight man dressed in fatigues for the photographers is not an ordinary bloke at all. He is Gareth Malone and, quite apart from now being likely to hold the Christmas No 1 slot, he is also the television choirmaster responsible for leading Donna from a simple life as an army wife and a mother of four to »

The Last Broadcast Remake Hanging by a Thread

17 October 2011 11:11 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Filmmaker John Stevenson hit Dread Central up to say that his planned remake of The Last Broadcast is not "dead" but is "severely delayed." Due to a wide variety of issues all coming to a head at the same time, it's looking less and less likely that The Last Broadcast will get a new life.

From filmmaker John Stevenson

My plans to remake The Last Broadcast were going great. I had new ideas and fresh takes to add in. However, issues pushed the production back. Additionally, I started materializing a Night of the Living Dead remake script with producers Loyal Ploof and Michele Pulaski-Tippett. It would take years for me to resurrect The Last Broadcast remake, and it may never come to pass.

Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles

9 May 2011 5:51 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Hanna-Barbera ruled Saturday morning television in the 1960s, cannily finding trends and adapting them to their pint-sized audience. Working in tandem with CBS Saturday morning chief Fred Silverman, they spotted a fad and capitalized on it. As the lids were galvanized by the super-hero trend which led to ABC’s surprise smash success with Batman in January 1966, it is little surprise that the fall 1966 cartoon season was festooned with colorful heroic figures. Among the dozen new series to debut that September there was Filmation’s earliest offerings: The Lone Ranger and The New Adventures of Superman, plus H-b’s Space Ghost and Dino Boy, The Super Six, and, notably, Frankenstein Jr. and The Impossibles. The latter series was split evenly between the two properties, each offering something for its viewers. The former show was about boy genius Buzz Conray (Dick Beals), who constructed the thirty-foot tall robot improbably dubbed Frankenstein Jr. »
