Though both started out as student's of Chicago's improvisational comedy scene in Second City, Steve Carell and David Steinberg have taken very different paths. While Carell is well known for his talents onscreen in "The Office" or films like Date Night, Steinberg's talents have mostly been behind the camera directing for series like "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Mad About You." But now Deadline report the two are teaming up for a currently untitled documentary on the evolution of comedy which will look back at 60 years of laughs. As someone who's always taken notice of the comedic trends fluctuating every ten years or so, this is great news. So to really get to the core of comedy and how it has changed over the years, Steinberg has been interviewing comedians young and old to really make this documentary shine. Such names include Mel Brooks, Don Rickles, Carol Burnett, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen »

Steve Carell and comedian David Steinberg will be teaming up to produce a documentary about the history of modern comedy. According to Deadline, the documentary will “chronicle the evolution of comedy over the past sixty years through the eyes of several generations of comedians.” Carell and Steinberg are already working on the currently untitled documentary, which will include interviews with such comedians as Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Lily Tomlin, Don Rickles, Carol Burnett, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Judd Apatow, Robin Williams, Sarah Silverman, Chris Rock, Jane Lynch, and Tina Fey. The amount of talent involved with the film is definitely impressive and Carell seems to agree by saying, “We’re honored that so many legendary comedic performers have chosen to be part of this.”
The duo plan to target the film for a TV distribution deal and I’m sure that more than one channel will be happy to air »

Swing Time will be introduced by director, producer, actor and comedian David Steinberg, who, as per the Academy's press release, considers this 1936 Rko musical his favorite movie. Many, in fact, consider Swing Time the very best Astaire-Rogers musical. Personally, I was a little disappointed when I saw it a few years ago; I was also surprised to realize that Shall We Dance?, released the following year, was basically a carbon copy imitation. But my disappointment notwithstanding, the stylish Swing Time has a number »
