Madrid – Tying down one of the best-known alternative TV hosts in Mexico and the U.S. Latino market, FremantleMedia Latin America (Fmla) has inked with Marco Antonio Regil’s Rgl Entertainment to co-develop and jointly produce entertainment, lifestyle and healthy living properties.
Fmla’S development team, headed by Constanza Cagliolo, will lead FremantleMedia’s development, targeting mainstream and niche audiences.
The partnership comes as FremantleMedia, part of leading European network Rtl Group, is placing a larger emphasis on emerging markets in general, and Latin America in particular.
The Regil partnership looks not only toward Latin America but the U.S. Latino market as well, with Regil teaming in 2012 to create the U.S. West Coast-based Rgl Ent. with business partner David Steinberg and vet U.S. producer Ron Lyon.

The Oscar-winning Chinatown scribe will receive the 2015 Screenwriters Tribute at an event on June 27 hosted by comedian David Steinberg, the Nantucket Film Festival announced Thursday. Screenwriter Robert Towne will be honored at the Nantucket Film Festival’s 2015 Screenwriters Tribute, the festival announced Thursday.
Best known for “Chinatown,” Towne also penned “Shampoo,” “The Last Detail” and “Mission: Impossible.” Past honorees of the tribute include Aaron Sorkin, Nancy Meyers, Charlie Kaufman and Alexander Payne.
“In our 20th anniversary year we could not be more thrilled to honor the incomparable Robert Towne,” Nff executive director Mystelle Brabbee said in a statement. “As a festival that recognizes achievements in screenwriting, Towne’s body of work has truly changed the landscape of American cinema.”
Towne will also engage in an public conversation with Chris Matthews (MSNBC’s “Hardball”) as part of the festival’s “In Their Shoes…” series. The festivities will be hosted by comedian David Steinberg. Epix will present the event.
