Smallville Season 9 (2009-2010)

14 September 2010 6:20 PM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

Developed by: Alfred Gough, Miles Millar

Executive Producers: Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson, James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola

Cast: Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack, Cassidy Freeman, Callum Blue, Justin Hartley

Watching a boy become a man takes well over the 18 years that mark the official transition. Watching an alien boy become a man of steel is nine years in the making so far and is due to be wrapped up after one more year. In real life, there are many moments that define a person with a lot of mundane filler in between. The same can be said for this origin story that has slowly woven pieces of prior incarnations of our beloved Kryptonian into a completely new hero. Thankfully, the pace picks up in season nine as we inch closer to the climax.

Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling, is about to test for his brown belt in superheroism. »

Justice Society Returning To ‘Smallville’ This Season!

16 March 2010 1:53 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

During the DC Nation panel Q&A at last week’s Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle, Wa, someone asked DC Entertainment exec, comic book scribe and Absolute Justice writer Geoff Johns whether or not we would be seeing the Justice Society of American outside of the comics again. Johns responded by confirming that not only would the Jsa be returning to Smallville, but that it would be happening this season!

“They do appear again at the end of season on ‘Smallville.’ The hope is for every DC character to appear outside the comic books. Correctly.”

Follow the ratings smash that was “Absolute Justice,” it shouldn’t be too surprising that the powers-that-be would be interested in the bringing back the Golden Age superheroes – however, I don’t think anyone was expecting it to be this soon.

Two Clips From ‘Smallville: Absolute Justice’

2 February 2010 12:00 PM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

This week marks a pretty big event for the gang over at Smallville as they encounter the Justice Society of America for the first time. Granted, this isn’t the first time other DC superheroes have made it onto the show, with characters like Green Arrow, Aquaman, Black Canary, and others joining in the fray from time to time. With all those characters making appearances in the past, there’s still something even more special about this week’s two-hour episode.

While this season has brought up some interesting plots including Braniac, the Legion, Metallo, and others, this coming event, written by Geoff Johns, seems to take the cake. From Kryptonsite:

Smallville: New Absolute Justice Promo Trailer & Images

29 January 2010 8:23 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

With Smallville coming out of its winter break, the mid-season premiere is upon us this Friday, the 29th of January.

You would think that the mid-season premiere would be pretty exciting, but instead the fan base is pretty jazzed about the 2nd air date of the show’s return, the Smallville movie titled Absolute Justice. The event is scripted by DC Comics wunderkid, Geoff Johns, and features a whole bunch of superheroes.

The CW is technically calling it a movie.  They had a 2-part story arc and decided to make it a single evening’s event.

Lex Luthor may be a distant memory on Smallville, but with the darker tone of Season 9, coupled with Checkmate and General Zod, we may be in for one of the most exciting seasons of Smallville from start to finish since season 5. 'Smallville': 'Absolute Justice' teaser

"Smallville" returns to The CW Friday (Jan. 29) after a two-month-plus hiatus, but what we're really looking forward to is the episode after that.

That would be the two-hour "Absolute Justice" episode, in which Clark (Tom Welling) meets up with members of the Justice Society of America: Hawkman (Michael Shanks), Doctor Fate (Brent Stait) and Stargirl (Britt Irvin). The CW has released a teaser trailer for the two-hour event (Welling, incidentally, directed the second half); take a look.

Nice atmosphere, right? Per the network, Clark will uncover the Justice Society's old headquarters while he and Chloe (Allison Mack) are investigating a murder. Someone, it seems, is targeting former members of the group, and Stargirl is trying to convince her cohorts to band together again.

"Absolute Justice" airs Friday, Feb. 5.
