TV Review: American Horror Story: Roanoke: "Chapter 2" -- All Too Familiar Territory

22 September 2016 10:06 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

FX certainly had American Horror Story fans good and annoyed over the course of the past few months, when they decided to throw a bunch of teasers at us — most of which had absolutely nothing to do with the theme of this season. Last week -- with the premiere of the season -- it was revealed that not only would the theme be Roanoke, but it would also be presented in a TV special manner, wherein there are interviews, re-enactments, and the like.

It did...it did okay. But before I go into the episode proper, I’d like »

Transformers The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Review

24 August 2016 8:21 AM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

It has taken 30 years for director Nelson Shin's 1986 cult classic Transformers The Movie to journey onto North American shores with a widescreen high definition presentation. Unlike previous home video releases by other studios over the years, Shout! Factory approached this project with a fanatic's eye who demanded nothing short of excellence for legendary leader Optimus Prime and his valiant Autobot warriors. The Transformers The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray has the touch, the power, and everything in between.

I was turning 13 years old when Transformers The Movie made its theatrical debut and vividly recall watching it in a mostly empty cinema. Even at that age it was clearly obvious the film was designed to wipe current characters off the roster and usher in a new toy line. What caught everyone off guard is how emotionally jarring it was seeing Wheeljack, Ironhide and especially Optimus Prime so violently killed after having »

Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray trailer emerges

Chris Cummins Aug 9, 2016

Just in time for the 30th anniversary of comes this look at the upcoming Transformers: The Movie Blu-ray special edition....

30 years ago, the innocence of a generation was brutally snuffed out with the release of Transformers: The Movie, the audacious and wildly entertaining feature film spin-off of the mega-popular animated series (and the Hasbro toy line) that had the cojones to kill off Optimus Prime...and several other beloved characters. Of course, the idea behind this cartoon culling was that kids would fall in love with Hot Rod and the new robots introduced in this film, they'd run out and buy their corresponding toys. But such unchecked capitalism had an unexpected side effect: It made audiences realize just how much they loved Optimus Prime in the first place.

Robot friend, we hardly knew ye.

Optimus eventually made his comeback, but at the time, this was a devastating »
