Tyler Christopher has checked out of “General Hospital.” Christopher, who’s played Nikolas Cassadine on the ABC soap for 10 years, will not be returning to the series, a spokesperson for “General Hospital” told TheWrap. Remember what we said about “Some day, your prince will come“…? Scratch that.
Because as it turns out, contract talks between Tyler Christopher and General Hospital “fell apart” in August, Soap Opera Digest is reporting, and as such he won’t be returning to the role of Nikolas Cassadine, from which he took a hiatus in May.
Someday, your prince will come… back to Port Charles. And that day is perhaps not too far into the future.
General Hospital vet Tyler Christopher said on Friday evening at a Gh Fan Club Weekend kickoff event that he expects to soon resume taping at the ABC sudser, which he abruptly took a hiatus from the role of Nikolas Cassadine back in May.
Update: Original accounts of the event were more in the affirmative, prompting Christopher to clarify his status via Twitter, maintaining, “Nothing official yet”:

When Kirsten Storms told her fans that they’d be seeing her again “in no time,” she really meant it: The General Hospital leading lady will be back on air as Maxie the first week of August, TVLine has confirmed.
In May, the actress began a leave of absence from ABC’s daytime drama to recover from what she described in a tweet as “breakouts due to stress,” which became “too difficult for Gh to cover up.
“And we all know,” she added, “in this biz, appearance is important. »
A week after the news broke that Jen Lilley was giving up her Days of Our Lives role of Theresa Donovan, she’s revealing why. “It came down to time and the sacrifices required to keep [the character] on the front burner,” the actress tweeted Monday. “Given the demanding production schedule a soap requires, that just wasn’t possible with the other commitments and opportunities I wanted to pursue.”
The actor, who recently had an arc on Hawaii Five-0, kicks off his return engagement on July 29. His story arc is sure to find Jax dealing with former wife Carly and the mystery kidney that saved the life of their daughter, Josslyn. (Originally, the organ was thought to have been harvested from little Jake upon his death. »
On the heels of the news that Jen Lilley is leaving her Days of Our Lives role of scheme queen Theresa Donovan comes word that the also-exiting Kate Mansi has been recast as troubled ingénue Abigail Dimera: Marci Miller will make her debut as Chad’s bride this fall, Soap Opera Digest reports.
Though a soap rookie, the actress has appeared in a bunch of short films and stars in the upcoming Children of the Corn: Runaway and Death Race 2050, Roger Corman’s upgrade of his 1975 cult classic, »
The actress joined NBC’s long-running daytime drama three years ago after temporarily stepping in for Days alumna Kirsten Storms as General Hospital‘s Maxie Jones. (As you know, Storms is again on a break from Gh, this time with Days vet Molly Burnett filling in for her.) Once among Salem’s lot, Lilley was thrust into one frontburner storyline after another, with only Eileen Davidson »
Whereas the daytime-tv vet took time off from the ABC soap opera in fall of 2011 to tend to issues stemming from her endometriosis, this time Storms says that skin breakouts related to stress precipitated the time-out — in small part due to the fact that the Gh makeup team was having a hard time covering up her blemishes.
“Thanks for the love, and you will see me again in no time! »
What the heck is going on in Port Charles? Only days after it was announced that recent Daytime Emmy winner Tyler Christopher was being replaced as General Hospital‘s Nikolas Cassadine, ABC has confirmed that Kirsten Storms‘ Maxie Jones is also going to be temporarily recast.
The last time that Storms took time off from the soap (for medical reasons, in fall 2011), Jen Lilley stepped in for about 10 months. But, of course, Lilley — now under contract at Days of Our Lives, as Theresa Donovan — is no longer available to sub. »
A spokesperson for ABC’s sole sudser confirms for TVLine that the three-time Daytime Emmy nominee has been cast as Detective West’s mysterious ex-wife — who has been increasingly referred to, and apparently has some sort of connection to Dr. Griffin Munro. Williamson will first air in July.
Daytime Confidential first reported on the casting. »

A spokesperson for ABC’s one remaining soap could neither say how long the recast would be playing Hayden’s husband nor when the big switch would take place on air. Christopher, who recently won his first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, originated the role of Laura Spencer’s firstborn son back in »
