In its four airings to date, “Containment” has averaged a steady 0.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.5 million viewers overall in same-day Nielsen numbers — faring as well as, if not better than, previous timeslot occupant “iZombie” in several categories.

CW Greenlights DC Spinoff, New Julie Plec Drama; Takes Showtime’s ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’
The CW has greenlit its first new series for the 2015-16 season — in a big way.

The network has picked up “The Flash” and “Arrow” spinoff “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and ordered “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” the comedy pilot Showtime passed on. Plus, Julie Plec is getting another series on CW’s slate: “Cordon.”

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” is a mashup of DC legends starring a team of “The Flash” and “Arrow” characters. Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (played by Arthur Darvill) is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only the planet is at stake but all of time itself. Along with Darvill, Victor Garber (“The Flash”), Brandon Routh (“Arrow”), Caity Lotz (“Arrow”), Ciarra Renee and Franz Drameh star, alongside Dominic Purcell (“The Flash”) and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash”). The series hails from Bonanza Productions, Berlanti Productions

'Flash'/'Arrow' gets a series order and a title - 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'
The CW officially ordered three new dramas on Thursday afternoon, but the big news is the pick-up we all already new was coming. The "Flash"/"Arrow" spinoff has officially been ordered to series and after having been called various permutations on "untitled," it finally has a title: Say hello to "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."  I'll remind you of the details on "Legends of Tomorrow" in a minute, but The CW also ordered "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Cordon" to series.  Since The CW already has 10+ returning shows on tap for the 2015-2016 season,  the network isn't announcing schedule timetables or episode counts yet. We'll see if that news comes at The CW's upfront presentation to advertisers next Thursday. Let's get details: "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" focuses on time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter, who has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth,

SXSW Film Review: ‘The Grief of Others’

SXSW Film Review: ‘The Grief of Others’
If writer-director Patrick Wang hadn’t already made a fine, little-seen drama a few years ago called “In the Family,” the title would have been just as well suited to his sophomore feature, “The Grief of Others,” a delicate, elliptically structured portrait of six wounded souls coping with the aftermath of tragedy. More experimental in form and wobbly in execution than its predecessor, this searching adaptation of Leah Hager Cohen’s 2011 novel nonetheless evokes a family’s fragile inner life in ineffably moving fashion, capturing how distant and isolated parents and children can feel from one another even when living under the same roof. Commercial prospects are as modest as the work itself, but festivals will line up to pay their respects.

It takes a while for the viewer to grasp the significance of the dreamlike prologue, tinted with red and seemingly shot from the perspective of a hospital patient

SXSW Review: Patrick Wang's 'The Grief of Others' is a Poignant Follow-up to 'In the Family'

SXSW Review: Patrick Wang's 'The Grief of Others' is a Poignant Follow-up to 'In the Family'
Writer-director Patrick Wang's 2011 debut "In the Family" was a sprawling, astute look at a southern gay man coping with his partner's sudden death and attempting to care for his young child. Its measured approach and extensive running time limited its commercial appeal, but over the course of many months and the accumulation of critical acclaim, the movie became a definite sleeper hit. For his follow-up, "The Grief of Others," Wang adapts Leah Hager Cohen's 2011 novel into another quietly engaging look at family bonds troubled by unexpected death. While not as uniformly engaging as Wang's debut, the new movie once again showcases the filmmaker's tender, exacting technique, offering further confirmation of his emerging talent. Read More: The 2015 Indiewire Sundance Bible Wang's latest drama focuses on the turmoil facing the Ryries family in the immediate aftermath of tragedy. Married couple Ricky (Wendy Moniz) and John (Trevor St. John) cope with death of their.
