Director Sunil Ibrahim’s ‘Y’ to release on November 17

Director Sunil Ibrahim made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the movie Chapters that had Nivin Pauly playing the lead. This film also had Sreenivasan and Lena Abilash in important roles. He then went on to wield the megaphone for Arikil Oraal, which again had Nivin Pauly as the hero. After producing the film Olappeeppi, which was released a couple of years ago, Sunil Ibrahim is back to don the director’s robes.

Vineeth Sreenivasan, son of popular Malayalam actor Sreenivasan, is a multi-talented film personality. He is an accomplished playback singer, lyricist, actor, director, producer and screenwriter. While Vineeth made his debut as actor with Cycle in 2008, his maiden directorial was the hit flick Malarvadi Arts Club in 2010. ''Prabhu Deva to direct a Tamil film and may also act''

K S Srinivasan of Vasan Visual Ventures who had given films like Nimirndhu Nil. Boss Engira Bhaskaran, Naan Kadavul and the likes, is celebrating his birthday today, the 23rd November.

He throws light on his upcoming projects and plans.

“We are planning to release Balaji Tharaneetharan’s Oru Pakka Kathai in December. We had a special screening for directors and all of them had appreciated the film.

The shooting of Odi Odi Uzhaikkanum featuring Santhanam and directed by Manikandan is going on and is 25% complete.

We are working out a project with Prabhu Deva for the past two years and are planning for it now. Actually, we committed him for direction, but now we are in talks with him for acting also for a script.

In Telugu, we will be bankrolling a flick with Nani, the story discussion for which is going on”.

The 15th Mumbai Film Festival will bestow its Lifetime Achievement award on French filmmaker Costa-Gavras and actor Kamal Haasan.

Gavras is best known for his political thrillers, such as the Best Foreign Language Oscar-winner Z (1969); Missing (1982), for which Gavras won the Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) Oscar; The Little Apocalypse (1993) and Amen (2002).

The Greek-born Gavras has also been conferred with the title of French Knighthood. Since 2007, he has also been serving as the President of Cinémathèque Française, one of the world’s largest film archives.

“We are honored to confer the Lifetime Achievement Award to Costa-Gavras. His films have been loved and celebrated by millions of cinema lovers worldwide. We are humbled that he has agreed to receive this award,” said Shyam Benegal, Chairman, Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (Mami).

Mumbai Film Festival today announced actress Sarika as its fifth and final Jury member for the International Competition section. Sarika joins the league of Academy Award nominee director- Hugh Hudson (Jury president, international competition), Roger Spottiswoode director of James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer The 6th Day, Acclaimed Polish director- Jerzy Skolimowski, young Korean director - Na-Hong Jin who received numerous awards and acclaim for his films The Chaser and The Yellow Sea.
