Kate Bush directs new sci-fi video for 'Deeper Understanding'

Kate Bush, legendary musician from the 1980s and beyond, just directed a short sci-fi film to accompany the new release of her 1989 song "Deeper Understanding".

Kate Bush's dramatic arrival on the new wave music scene at age 19 in 1978 with the hauntingly beautiful song "Wuthering Heights" earned her a reputation for stirring, gothy, emotional and original music that all dark souls could appreciate.

Bush has a new album called Director’s Cut out on May 16, and to celebrate, she's re-releasing her 1989 song "Deeper Understanding" about... technology, alienation, and computers. Even more relevant today, it would seem.

The short film/music video, which doesn't seem to have a name, stars Robbie Coltrane as a successful businessman who is so obsessed by his computer that it leads to the break-up of his family (Frances Barber plays his wife) and, ultimately, his demise.
