Sonja Sohn was born as Sonja Williams. She is an actress and writer, known for The Wire (2002), Bringing Out the Dead (1999) and Shaft (2000). She was previously married to Adam Plack.

Was a "Slam" poet before becoming an actress...
Her father is African-American, and her mother is Korean-American.
"Sohn" is her mother's maiden name. She changed her name because her father disapproved of her becoming an actress.
Grew up in Newport News, Virginia.
Graduated from Warwick High School. She was a cheerleader and was voted "most popular" and "most school-spirited.".
Studied English at Brooklyn College which led to her writing poetry.
Sonja Sohn's youngest daughter (of two), Sophia Wang makes several brief on-screen appearances which made it into the final cut of the show. One such moment takes place in Episode 3 of Season 5 titled "Not for Attribution" where she plays the part of Six Flags Girl #2.
Even though Sohn is the name of her Korean mother it is also the German word for son.
