Disney Xd Renews "Guardians of the Galaxy"

Disney Xd has ordered a second season of its animated series "Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy" based on the comic and hit movie of the same name.

Premiering last month, the series has drawn 4.4 million unique total viewers including 1.9 million kids 2-11. The second season will delve deeper into the Guardians' universe as the group teams with the Avengers to stop an evil alien mad scientist known as the High Evolutionary.

During this battle, the Guardians discover an ancient weapon with mysterious powers and must unlock its secrets before every alien baddie in the galaxy tries to get their hands on it. Will Friedle, Trevor Devall, Vanessa Marshall, David Sobolov, Kevin Michael Richardson and James Arnold Taylor lend their voices to the series.

'We are Groot!' Love Groot? Then you'll love this! USA Today has a new clip from Marvel and Disney Xd's exciting new animated series Guardians of the Galaxy, which is based on the 2014 blockbuster of the same name. And we don't just get to see one Groot. We get to see a whole world full of them!

Something the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie never touched on was where Groot came from, or if there were more like him in the universe. We quickly find that out as Ronan the Accuser travels to Groot's home planet in his Dark Aster warship. Ronan's plan is to enslave this planet of humanoid-plant creatures. His dastardly goal is to mine their planet of it's precious resources.

Last week, Disney Xd debuted two sneak peek videos for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, which focused on Star-Lord in the new animated TV series. Today, the studio has released a brief trailer that brings back the popular song "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede, which was prominently featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy live-action blockbuster movie that hit theaters one year ago. The show's one-hour premiere on September 26 will head back to Knowhere, where fans will learn more about Star-Lord's past.

Earlier this month, Disney Xd announced that their animated TV series Guardians of the Galaxy will debut with a sneak peek of the first episode on Saturday, September 5 at 9:30 Pm, with the premiere and the second episode debuting back-to-back on Saturday, September 29 at 9 Pm. We have already seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy poster from the series, and today we have our look at the first footage with a brief 15-second trailer. The footage touts these outlaws as a "little bit" of both good and bad, while Rocket Raccoon makes a suggestion for their battle cry.

Marvel's "Guardians" Anime Series Hits 9/26

Marvel's animated series based on last year's massive hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be premiering a little earlier than expected.

The studio has announced that the show will premiere on Disney Xd on September 26th. From August 1st though, special sneak peeks and character profiles will begin airing on the network to build up hype. Marvel have also released the first poster and a proper synopsis:

Untitled Edward Snowden Film

"Justified" star Timothy Olyphant is in negotiations to join Oliver Stone's untitled Edward Snowden film. Stone directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kieran Fitzgerald.

Olyphant would play a CIA agent who befriended Snowden ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt) before he fled to Russia to seek asylum after leaking thousands of classified Nsa documents. Marvel has finalized its lead cast for Disney Xd’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” animated series. Vanessa Marshall (“Star Wars Rebels”) will voice Gamora. As promised, Marvel and Disney Xd have continued to reveal more cast members for their Guardians of the Galaxy TV series throughout the week, with Vanessa Marshall signing on to voice Gamora and James Arnold Taylor taking on the dual role of both Yondu and Cosmo. In last year's live-action blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora was played by Zoe Saldana, while Michael Rooker played Yondu. Over the past couple of days, Marvel has slowly been revealing the cast for its upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, and now two more names have been announced, with Vanessa Marshall (Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Star Wars Rebels) set to portray the assassin Gamora, and James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ultimate Avengers 2) supplying the voices for Yondu and Cosmo. Marvel has announced who will provide the voice for the final member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the upcoming Disney Xd animated series. Joining Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot, Trevor Devall as Rocket, Will Friedle as Star Lord and David Sobolov as Drax, will be Vanessa Marshall (who can currently be heard as the Ghost's pilot, Hera, in Star Wars Rebels) as "the most dangerous woman in the universe", Gamora. Like the other cast members, Marshall has plenty of experience having also played the likes of Mary Jane in The Spectacular Spider-Man, Black Widow in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes , and Black Canary in Young Justice. Marvel announces Star-Lord and Drax voice actors for Guardians of the Galaxy animated series

Following on from the announcement that Kevin Michael Richardson and Trevor Devall will lend their voices to Groot and Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy animated show, Marvel has now revealed two more members of the voice cast for the upcoming Disney Xd series.

David Sobolov, who appeared alongside Richardson’s Groot and Devall’s Rocket in the Ultimate Spider-Man episode ‘The Return of the Guardians of the Galaxy’ is set to reprise the role of Drax the Destroyer, while former Boy Meets World star Will Friedle will lend his voice to Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord.

Friedle has himself previously featured in Ultimate Spider-Man, portraying Deadpool, while his other voice work includes Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond, Lion-o in the revamped Thundercats, and Bumblebee in Transformers: Prime.

Welcome to a special edition of our news round-up, this time focusing on three comic book adaptations. The female lead in the Deadpool movie has been cast, the voice actors for Star-Lord/Peter Quill, Drax, Groot, and Rocket have been revealed for Disney Xd's Guardians of the Galaxy animated series (and fans of Boy Meets World and Batman Beyond should be very pleased with the Quill casting), and it's been announced that a Dreadstar TV series is in the works with the creator of the comic book series, Jim Starlin, executive producing and writing the project.

Deadpool: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra from Firefly and Serenity, Homeland, Gotham) will play the female lead in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool movie. The name of Baccarin's character has not yet been revealed, so it's unknown if she'll play a character from the Marvel comic book universe. »
