Twisted Sister Doc Nabbed by Music Box Films

2 June 2015 4:36 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Music Box Films has acquired documentary “We Are F****ing Twisted Sister,” from director Andrew Horn. The distributor has also announced a multi-year partnership with Amazon Prime Instant Video.

An August theatrical release is planned for the Twisted Sister rock doc, which recounts the band’s early days before they became one of the biggest acts of the 1980s. Horn talked with the Sisters themselves, their managers and fans about the 10 years the band spent toiling away before their brand of metal and theatrics — propelled by videos on the still-young MTV — made them an “overnight” success.

Doc premiered at Idfa Amsterdam and unspooled at the Goteborg Film Festival in Sweden earlier this year.

The band recently announced a 2016 40th anniversary and farewell tour.

The deal was negotiated with the filmmaker by Music Box Films’ president William Schopf.

6 May 2015 11:57 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The most shocking part of this story: that no one remade "The Howling" before this. Upstart production company Emaji Entertainment has announced that they're "rebooting" Joe Dante's 1981 werewolf classic "as the first in a series of films based upon well known film properties," which is exactly what we need more of. The original film starred the incomparable Dee Wallace as a TV news anchorwoman who is sent to a retreat after a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer and begins to suspect that the residents there may not be what they seem. Spoiler alert: they're hairier than they first appear. The film is notable for being released at a high point for werewolf movies, as John Landis's "An American Werewolf in London" was put out the same year. Both featured groundbreaking transformation sequences -- a 21-year-old Rob Bottin was responsible for the grisly third-act transformation in "The Howling, »
