'The Middleman' lives again at Comic-Con

23 July 2009 10:46 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

For many, the day "The Middleman" was canceled was a dark, dark day. I'm one of the many went through Middle-Withdrawal, so when I saw this Thursday (July 23) Comic-Con table read for the episode titled "The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse," I think I may have squeed. A loud round of applause from a packed room greeted creator and narrator for today Javier Grillo-Marxuach, cast members Matt Keeslar, Natalie Morales, Mary Pat Gleason Brit Morgan, Jake Smollett, Brendan Hines (wearing an awesome Tron cycle shit), Mark Sheppard (aka TV's Samuel L. Jackson), and writers Sarah Watson, Margaret Dunlap, and Andy Reeser, »

The Middleman: TV Show Creator Not Giving Up Hope, Promises Answers

23 March 2009 2:55 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Though ABC Family has cancelled The Middleman after a single season on the air, the adventures aren't over just yet.

The Middleman follows a straight-shooter hero (Matt Keeslar), his newbie assistant Wendy (Natalie Morales), and their fantastic adventures together. Other characters are played by Brit Morgan, Mary Pat Gleason, Jake Smollett, Brendan Hines, Drew Tyler Bell and Sean Davis.

Based on a comic book from Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, the TV show aired from June 16th to September 1st, 2008 on ABC Family. As creative as the series content is, the ratings weren't all that fantastic. Due to costs, a planned 13th episode wasn't shot and some of the money was funneled into episode 12.

The Middleman: ABC Family TV Show Cancelled, No Season Two

19 February 2009 10:37 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

We've suspected it for awhile but the cancellation's now official. ABC Family's freshman series, The Middleman, won't be back for a second year. As a network spokesperson tells PopWrap, "ABC Family has decided not to renew the series for a second season." Fortunately for fans, the story's not over just yet. The characters are returning to their roots.

Based on comics by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine, The Middleman centers around a young artist, Wendy (Natalie Morales), who is struggling financially. She lives with her best friend (Brit Morgan) and works temp jobs. While working at a lab, science experiment goes wrong and she's saved by The Middleman (Matt Keeslar). The handsome hero recruits her as his assistant to fight outrageous villains, along with his annoying robot helper, Ida (Mary Pat Gleason). Other characters are played by Jake Smollett, Brendan Hines, Drew Tyler Bell and Sean Davis.

Middleman debuted on June 16, 2008 on ABC Family. »
