Prince George Was Done With Trooping the Colour Before It Even Started

17 June 2017 2:30 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The royal family's spectacular, annual celebration of the Trooping the Colour parade was a sunny, smile-filled affair, but there was one person in attendance who seemed a little, um, over it, to say the least. We'll give you one wild guess who . . . Yep, Prince George! The adorable 3-year-old has a habit of letting his true feelings show, and while standing next to little sister Princess Charlotte at the parade, he unveiled some of his most hilarious facial expressions to date. Dressed in an adorable suspender outfit, George all but rolled his eyes at the Trooping the Colour festivities, while his mom and dad, Kate Middleton and Prince William, attempted to give him a few pep talks throughout. Although we can't know for sure what was going through the little royal's mind, we have a few ideas . . . RelatedRemember Matching Outfits With Your Mom? So Will Princess Charlotte One Day »

Have you missed Bubsy? What do you mean 'who'? The obscure platformer hero's making a belated return....

Hey kids, remember Bubsy? No? Oh. Well, let's assume you do remember Bubsy so that this segue to the trailer for a new Bubsy game isn't a complete wash.

The recently revived development studio Accolade has announced that they intend to revive the Bubsy franchise they started 24 years ago. The original Bubsy game - officially called Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind - was a 2D platformer for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis that borrowed many mechanics from Sonic and Mario titles while adding a healthy dose of slightly outdated pop culture references to the formula.

Cannes Film Review: ‘Sea Sorrow’

17 May 2017 9:13 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

“I feel like I’m back in ‘Richard III,'” Vanessa Redgrave notes solemnly at one point in her impassioned refugee-crisis documentary “Sea Sorrow.” Diagnosing Shakespearean levels of villainy and hubris in many of today’s political leaders — with a particular swipe at Britain’s Conservative government — she continues: “Those appalling historical figures are reemerging today.” It’s a dramatic analogy in all senses, though that is to be expected from a great classical actress making her debut as a documentarian. Sincere, sometimes impressionistic and formally naive, Redgrave’s 72-minute cri de coeur feigns neither tough investigative nous nor lofty aesthetic artistry as it commendably implores politicians and citizens to open their hearts, minds and borders to those affected by war in Syria, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Shot on rudimentary digital, it’s more extended PSA than cinema, but one senses the filmmaker herself knows her message outranks her method. As such, »

‘Sea Sorrow’ Review: Vanessa Redgrave’s Directorial Debut Is a Plain But Passionate Call to End the Refugee Crisis — Cannes 2017

17 May 2017 7:55 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Less a documentary than it is a 74-minute infomercial trying to sell European politicians on their own humanity, Vanessa Redgrave’s “Sea Sorrow” neither qualifies as art nor aspires to be considered as such — it’s far too urgent for interpretation. Funded by and featuring the legendary actress (newly minted as a director just a few months after her 80th birthday), this glorified PSA is essentially the negative image of Gianfraco Rosi’s “Fire at Sea.” Redgrave’s film is as direct as Rosi’s film is impressionistic, her plea as haphazard as his is elegant. Of course, the world is wide enough to support both approaches, and the situation is dire enough to demand them.

While much of “Sea Sorrow” speaks to its audience in the abstract language of history and statistics, Redgrave is wise to ground this portrait on a personal level. The film begins with a devastating »

13 Mother's Day Gifts You Can Get by Sunday

8 May 2017 6:00 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Your mom is your favorite person for a reason. She loves you no matter what and is there for you no matter what. There's no way you can possibly repay her for all she's done for you, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Well, with Mother's Day sneaking up on us (it's May 14, by the way), now is a perfect opportunity to shower her with extra love (read: gifts). But what do you get the person that's given you everything? You don't need to wrack your brain. Just get her something that you'd like to receive. (You know, the older more mature version of you.) Think: cozy loungewear like sweaters with fun sayings or a chic set of PJs. Or maybe it's some dainty jewelry »

‘Veep’ Review: TV’s Most Twisted Romance Reaches an Unmentionable New Milestone

7 May 2017 8:00 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Veep” Season 6, Episode 4, “Justice.”]

First Reaction

Listen, there’s no way I was going to put this in the headline because the implication would raise people’s hopes too high, but I’ve got to say it, just once, for my own sanity: Selina and Gary slept together! They did! They really did!

Ok, no, not that way. The most intimate sexless couple on TV still haven’t done “it,” but they did fall asleep next to each other because of another special shared milestone: Selina had a heart attack, and Gary had his third!

Yeah, that’s less exciting. But it’s damn funny TV. Considering last week Selina made Gary check her food for poison by eating it himself, I didn’t expect their relationship to delve even deeper so soon. Episode 4 saw Selina discover that she’d had a heart attack, which caused Gary to have one, which led to Gary sleeping at the Meyer brownstone, »

'Veep': Why the Scathing Satire Is Perfect Portrait of Our Political Reality

6 April 2017 5:59 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Welcome to a post-apocalyptic Veep, a show tailored for a political post-apocalyptic America. Julia Louis-Dreyfus has always made her President Selina Mayer a splendidly loathsome monster of American politics – but like the rest of us, she's gotten bum-rushed by a real-life electoral catastrophe more bizarre than any TV show could have made up. HBO's scathing D.C. satire, which returns on April 16th, might have gotten outfreaked by reality, yet in the superb new season's episodes, Selina is right in tune with the national mood of America – or as she tenderly calls it, »

Interview: Ben Rock and Stuart Gordon on the Timely 40th Anniversary Live Theatre Revival of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s The Sirens Of Titan

Over the weekend, history was made in the live theatre world of Los Angeles, as Ben Rock and the legendary Stuart Gordon revived the stage play version of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s novel The Sirens of Titan for the Sacred Fools Theater. Gordon, who first tackled the darkly comedic sci-fi tale 40 years ago for Chicago’s Organic Theater, once again handled the screenplay adaptation for this new take on the classic story of a man who must lose everything to understand what life truly is all about. The result is a wildly entertaining exploration of what it means to be human, as well as a deeply moving experience that I enjoyed immensely.

After the premiere performance this past Friday, Daily Dead had the opportunity to chat with both Rock and Gordon (who are reteaming once again after a successful collaboration on Taste, a cannibal-themed dramatic production that also played at »

From VHS to VOD #2

24 March 2017 7:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I can often spend hours upon hours trawling through iTunes looking for new movies to buy… Usually I’ll randomly come across a title I haven’t seen in years and use the “Cast & Crew” links to make my way down the rabbit hole to the more obscure side of Apple’s digital movie service.

Now whilst many will decry that iTunes is a terrible VOD service due to Apple’s desire to lock its audience to their platforms, if you have an Apple TV or iPad be aware – there are some truly obscure films hidden away in the depths of the vast collection of movies. Some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form!
