Lee Daniels Directs ‘Empire’ Cast Members in New Ad for Clinton Campaign

Taraji P. Henson, Bryshere Gray, Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, Tasha Smith, Gabourey Sidibe, and Grace Byers appear in a new ad for Hillary Clinton’s campaign directed by Lee Daniels.

The new ad is called “What Will You Say,” and highlights “what’s at stake for the African American community in this election,” the Clinton campaign said in a statement announcing the spot. It will run on TV and online in battleground states.

“What will I tell my son?” asks Henson in the spot. “What will you tell your daughter? What will we tell the future generation?” The video ends with each star declaring their declaration to vote for Clinton.

Daniels spoke at the Democratic National Convention in July.

Solidifying the relatively new marriage between Bet and the American Black Film Festival, the network and org joined together again for the Bet Experience during its awards show weekend in downtown Los Angeles. L.A. Live held the film fest, titled Abff Encore, in addition to Bet’s annual concert series and expos to expand its once music-centered weekend of events further into television and film.

“We did our first award show together in response to #OscarsSoWhite, and this was the outgrowth of that,” said Bet president Debra Lee. “It allows us to shine more light on what’s happening in Hollywood.”

Justin Long will star in ABC’s soccer comedy pilot “Dream Team.” He will play Marty Schumacher, the eternally optimistic manager of a sporting goods store and the head coach of a nationally ranked soccer program. The potential series centers around his character, who coached his last club soccer team for 10 years, ultimately taking them to the national championships. Now, he has to start from scratch with a diverse group of 8-year-olds and their disparate parents.
