Eureka Review, Season 5, Episode 6, “Worst Case Scenario”
Written by Jill Blotevogel
Directed by Salli Richardson-Whitfield
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Allison) sits in the director’s chair for the first second time and doesn’t miss a beat. She has been with the show since the beginning, so it’s safe to say she understands how things work around there and her familiarity is apparent. Despite “Worst Case Scenario” being predictable and formulaic, by Eureka’s standards, Richardson-Whitfield is able to bring it to life in a way that would suggest she’s been directing Eureka all along.
While running a disaster simulation, the computer in charge decides to set off a series of real events that Sheriff Carter and the rest of the crew must stop before the town is destroyed. Of course everything works out and the town is saved; no major twists or »

Eureka Review, Season 5, Episodwe 5, “Jack of All Trades”
Written by Jaime Paglia and Eric Wallace
Directed by Jaime Paglia
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
This week’s Eureka provides laughs, body swapping, an emotional confession, a dark moment, a potential character departure and a marriage proposal. That’s a lot of ups and downs for one episode, but “Jack of All Trades” reaches these extremes with ease.
Residual effects from the Matrix are still occurring as Jack’s conscience first swaps bodies with Fargo, then Zane, and finally Allison. It appears that since Jack was the only one connected to the Matrix wirelessly, his brain is acting as a sort of WiFi hotspot. The swaps occur randomly and make for some mostly hilarious situations.
Some of the actors, particularly Colin Ferguson (Jack), Erica Cerra (Jo), Kavan Smith (Andy), and Joe Morton (Henry) find themselves playing outside of character »

Eureka, Season 5, Episode 3, “Force Quit”
Written by Terri Hughes Burton and Ron Milbauer
Directed by Mike Rohl
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
The three-part arc that has found the Astraeus crew trapped in a virtual world comes to a predictable conclusion this week as the crew is rescued. Though the impending results are obvious, “Force Quit” is still an exciting episode that moves at a rigorous pace.
Beverly comes to Eureka to help Carter, Henry, and Lupo find the captives. Carter taps into the Matrix where he must cause a system overload that would help Henry and Lupo trace the signal and find the crew. Inside the Matrix, Carter convinces Zane, Allison, Grace, and Fargo that he is the real Carter and they are trapped in a virtual world. They work together to blow up the virtual Astraeus, causing a spike in the Matrix that crashes the system. »

Eureka, Season 5, Episode 1, “Lost”
Written by Jaime Paglia
Directed by Matthew Hastings
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
Eureka is usually a pretty light-hearted and whimsical show, but this week’s season premiere is definitely on the darker, more serious side.
To recap last season, Global Dynamics spent a majority of the time preparing to launch the spaceship Astraeus to Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. The ship was ready to launch by the finale until Beverly of Eureka past sabotaged the project and gained control of the launch. This culminated in the Astraeus and its crew disappearing from Gd.
The final season’s premiere kicks off with the Astraeus crash-landing onto…Earth! The crew is picked up by Gd personnel led by Deputy Andy, now the head security officer of Gd. Andy though first appearing like his normal happy self quickly becomes more serious, delivering the line “Quarantine everything” in chilling fashion. »

When we last visited the residents of Eureka in September, the Astraeus had launched early with Allison still aboard, leaving Carter to ask: Where did they go?
In this week’s season premiere - "Lost" - we learned the answer: Earth. Ah, but not just any Earth, they found themselves back on Earth with four years having passed since the launch.
Did anyone else catch the nod to a certain ABC series with the sound effects that played when going to commercial? If you were a fan of the show you might have noticed. Kudos to Jamie Paglia and his team for the subtle, yet fun, addition.
As for the biggest change in four years? It was a toss-up for me between S.A.R.A.H. & Andy(s) being in charge and Carter being with Lupo. For the first, I really liked how Andy kept his charm, but then »

Originally titled Iron Invader, which may have been a self-conscious throwback to now gleefully cheesy monster flicks of the 1950's, Metal Shifters offers little in the way of mass monsterdom, instead focusing on one hunk of metal infected by outer space bacteria. That's the least of the film's problems really, as this SyFy channel production belongs on a long list of films that are long on ambition and woefully short on just about everything else. Wasting little time in setting up the story of a very, very small town and two brothers, Jake (Kavan Smith) and Ethan (Colby Johannson) scoring a quick buck while dumping some satellite scrap metal with Earl (Donnelly Rhodes), the town nutcase. Earl is working on a metal "golem" to commemorate the town's centennial, but when space bacteria grabs hold and enlivens the metal beast, the creature hungers for some iron-rich blood (yes) and goes on the hunt. »

Eureka: Star Colin Ferguson and Creator Jaime Paglia Preview the Premiere
In support of Eureka's fifth and final season premiere airing tonight, Colin Ferguson and E.P. Jaime Paglia recently answered questions about the new season's first three episodes and reflected on saying goodbye to the series so cherished by fans.
The first episode of a three-part story picks up immediately where the last finale left off, yet it simultaneously manages to flip the script entirely. Beyond taking viewers where they likely didn't expect the premiere boldly delves deeper into the darker side of dread. Having moved onto his next starring role for Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, Colin's pride in Eureka's finale season is effusive and well-earned. Before the first question was asked he proclaimed, "I just want to say right out of the gate, I’m so proud of the first three episodes. From a production, »

Rodney (David Hewlett) complains about Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) not letting him hold the baby, after he dropped him. Rodney was dropped when he was little. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) "that explains a lot." The Daedalus arrives at Atlantis but there's no one on board. The actual Daedalus is on its way to earth so this one isn't their one. They fly to the ship and find scorch marks underneath it. As well as an energy reading. Inside there's an abandoned jumper and it's cold. I said that jumper was theirs, as will be explained later. Rodney analyzes the ship and finds it's him, "think there's a ghost on board." The log entry shows the ship was abandoned by Commander Sobol, whom Sheppard doesn't know nor has heard of. The energy reading fluctuates and the ship jumps into hyperspace. They can't reach Atlantis and Lorne (Kavan Smith) can't reach them, either. Rodney exclaims the city isn't there. »

Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) complains of not getting much sleep and how Kanaan (Patrick Sabongui) is finding it difficult to adjust to life on Atlantis. Ronon (Jason Momoa) spots a body on the ground and is shot and taken. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) comments how Tyre (Mark Dacascos) would have killed him if he wanted to. Teyla believes he may still have his Setedan sense of honour. Sheppard has to ask for permission from Woolsey (Robert Picardo) to "go off world." Woolsey hasn't received Teyla's formal request to return to duty and she hasn't decided whether she wants to or not. Sheppard is sure she will return. Woolsey gets stuck in the conference room. Tyre calls Ronan and himself brothers. He recalls Sarif Sur where Ronon risked his life to save him and he's returning the favour now. Sheppard and the team visit with Solan Sincha (Sean Campbell) who comments Ronon was »

Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) share wine and dinner and she likes to be spend time alone with him, as does he with her; well who wouldn't want to get Sheppard alone?!! She didn't thank him for rescuing her from Michael (Connor Trinneer) and he doesn't remember that rescue, cos it never happened, at least not yet anyway. Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks) tells him he didn't rescue her; Sheppard bleeds, he was hallucinating and wakes up next to Ronan (Jason Momoa). That must have been a shock to him, as he was already in shock from his injuries. They have been buried after the explosion at Michael's compound. Sheppard seeing Ford in such a moment was his guilt on display cos he wasn't able to save him either. They've been separated from Rodney (David Hewlett) and Lorne (Kavan Smith). The Daedalus is on its way to help. Rodney »
