12 October 2011 5:04 PM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Stars from Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood will be at Memorabilia London this month.

The collectors' fair will be the first ever signing appearance for Freema Agyeman (above and right), who played Tenth Doctor David Tennant's companion Martha Jones.

Joining her are Torchwood's Eve Myles (who plays Gwen Cooper) and Kai Owen (Rhys Williams).

Previously announced for the October 29-30 event were Alexa Havins (Esther Drummond) and Arlene Tur (Dr Vera Juarez), the Us stars of Torchwood: Miracle Day.

Other Doctor Who guests attending include Andrew Hayden-Smith (Jake Simmonds), Ayesha Antoine (Dee Dee Blasco), Daniel King (Davenport) and John Levene (Sgt Benton).

As well as meeting fans and signing autographs at Memorabilia London, the stars will host panels at the event's sister show, McM Expo London Comic Con, which takes place in the neighbouring hall at ExCel London over the same weekend.

Torchwood stars sign up for McM Expo London Comic Con

16 September 2011 5:56 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Between trying to save the world and being hunted by the CIA, you might think Alexa Havins and Arlene Tur would not have much free time.

But the two Us stars of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood: Miracle Day have confirmed that they'll both be meeting fans and signing autographs as special guests at next month's McM Expo London Comic Con.

Alexa Havins (pictured top) plays CIA analyst Esther Drummond, who finds herself working alongside fellow agent Rex Matheson and the Torchwood Institute's last surviving members, Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper.

Arlene Tur (pictured right) plays tough-talking surgeon Dr Vera Juarez, who treats Rex Matheson and investigates what is happening to patients affected by the Miracle, a phenomenon in which no one on Earth is able to die.

The Doctor Who theme continues at McM Expo London Comic Con's sister show, Memorabilia London, where Andrew Hayden-Smith (Jake Simmonds), Ayesha Antoine »

Ian McKellen And Friends Appear In Charity Video

13 June 2011 8:00 AM, PDT | Look to the Stars | See recent Look to the Stars news »

Sir Ian McKellen, Samantha Fox and Paul O’Grady are three of the stars who have taken part in a new advertising campaign for a British charity.

The famous faces feature in a new PSA for the Albert Kennedy Trust, an organization that provides a range of services for young lesbian, gay, bi and transexual people in the UK. Set to Radiohead’s classic song, Creep, the video also features Sue Perkins, Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson and actor Andrew Hayden-Smith.

“We’ve used some well-known personalities in these tough situations to help let young Lgbt people know where they can turn for support,” said Robert Harwood-Matthews, president of Tbwa UK. “Tbwa London is hugely proud to be a part of a such a groundbreaking campaign that hopes to increase awareness and shift behaviour towards a cause that too often goes unrecognised.”

Weekend Meme: Tracy Morgan Twitter Storms, Tom Hanks Makes "American Gods" on HBO, and "From the Front Porch" with David Mixner

I’ve decided to push all the Tracy Morgan news into a special edition section of Weekend Meme on page two. Feel free to catch up there.

As I write this, we’re less than 24 hours from the start of the Tony Awards, and our man Neil Patrick Harris has been making the interview circuit. He’s promising the “edgiest Tony’s yet” but much of that seems to depend on whether the 14-time nominated The Book of Mormon can get a song past the censors. As for Nph, he’s not going to make himself the center of the show, and you won’t see him in Spider-Man spandex. Spoilsport. Obviously, I’ll be tweet-snarking the whole thing live.

The Seattle Mariners have become the 4,785,987th baseball team to announce an It Gets Better video. Actually, I’m really happy to see them jump into the project, but I »

Doctor Who complete reviews: Rise of the Cybermen

6 June 2011 2:26 AM, PDT | Shadowlocked | See recent Shadowlocked news »

Which came first? The chicken or the egg? The NuWho episode or the Classic Doctor Who DVD release? There's a poser for dopey Professor Kerensky – maybe he should have devoted his time to organising a Doctor Who DVD schedule instead of building his infernal cellular accelerator contraption. At least, he wouldn't have ended up ageing to a skeleton.

So cast your minds back to 2006, when it was announced that Inferno and The Invasion would be out on brand spanking new shiny disc. Coincidence? Well, consider that the two-part Rise Of The Cybermen/The Age Of Steel (or Rise Of Steel as I like to call it) included the much-heralded return of the tinpot meanies, a reference to International Electromatics, a crazed entrepreneur with delusions of grandeur, and a doomy parallel universe. Which meant that the two DVDs would be popular choices for new generations of fans who had lapped up »
