Asha Parekhs biography in the making

13 August 2016 3:32 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Yesteryears' screen queen Asha Parekh is the latest to join the growing gallery of Bollywood icons who are subjects of books on their lives. While books on Shatrughan Sinha (written by journalist Bharati S Pradhan), Shammi Kapoor (written by veteran journalist Rauf Ahmed) and Shashi Kapoor (written by Us-based critic and journalist Aseem Chabria) have already hit the stands, some of other biographical subjects on the anvil are Kamal Haasan, Rishi Kapoor, Asha Bhosle, Shabana Azmi, Waheeda Rehman and Pran. The latest Bollywood icon to join the biographic brigade is Asha Parekh whose success ratio in the 1960s and early 70s is rivalled by none of her female colleagues. Disarmingly unassuming and loathe to tom-tom her achievements, Asha Parekh laughs in embarrassment about her stardom. "Yes, there were many successful films. God was kind. I was labelled the 'Jubilee Girl' because of the number of golden and silver jubilees. When »

I recommend the strongest criminal action against Aib and Tanmay Bhat for insulting two Bharat Ratnas - Shatrughan Sinha

31 May 2016 3:33 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

Bollywood has erupted against self-styled stand-up comedian Tanmay Bhat and All India Backchod (Aib) for putting out a shockingly insulting and cheap video showing a Lata Mangeshkar impersonator and Sachin Tendulkar lookalike in a mock-debate on Virat Kohli. The ruling government Bjp's most vocal and articulate member Shatrughan Sinha has decided to take matters in hand. Speaking exclusively on the subject, a discernibly livid Shatrughan Sinha spoke out, "They've insulted not just the greatest singer of the country but the Divine Mother of the nation. I'd say Lataji is the Mother Teresa of popular culture. There will never be another Lata Mangeshkar for as long as civilization exists. To make such a cheap video featuring her is bad enough. To add Sachin Tendulkar to the atrocious prank is adding insult to injury." Shatrughan Sinha recommends the strongest criminal action against Tanmay Bhat and Aib. "They've to be dealt with severely »
