Edward Sinclair was born on February 3, 1914 in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England as Edward Sinclair Perry. He was an actor and writer, known for Dad's Army (1968), Dad's Army (1971) and The Bells (1931). He was married to Gladys Green. He died on August 29, 1977 in Cheddar, Somerset, England.

Died exactly one month after the last episode of Dad's Army (1968) was recorded. He didn't live to see the 9th season broadcast, since this took place nearly two months after his death.
British radio and television actor, born into a theatrical family. Started in amateur dramatics and only turned professional while in his forties. Best remembered as the furtive, weaselly verger, Mr. Yeatman, in "Dad's Army".
