Altitude Inks Deals on 14 Films Including Samuel L. Jackson Starrer ‘Big Game’

London — Altitude Film Sales has closed international distribution deals on 14 films, including “Big Game,” an action adventure starring Samuel L. Jackson as the U.S. President.

Big Game,” which is written and directed by Jalmari Helander (“Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale”) and co-stars Onni Tommila as the President’s 13-year-old sidekick, has been sold to 16 territories to date.

The most recent deals were inked with Shochiku (Japan), Swen (Latin America), Pictureworks (India), Shoval (Israel), Gulf Film (Middle East), Multivision (Malaysia), Pioneer (Philippines), Thailand (Ipa Asia Pacific) and Cinemania (former Yugoslavia). Entertainment One (U.K.), Ascot Elite (German-speaking territories and Switzerland) and Nordisk (Scandinavia) sealed deals in Cannes.

“Spooks: The Greater Good,” the action thriller from Shine Pictures based on the hit international TV series, was snapped up by Constantin (German-speaking Europe), Swen (Latin America), Gulf Film (Middle East), Cinesky (Airlines) and Cinemania (former Yugoslavia). Espionage Thriller Toplines Altitude’s Afm Slate

London — A feature film version of the U.K. TV series “Spooks,” which aired in the U.S. as “Mi-5,” toplines the Afm slate of Altitude Film Sales.

Spooks: The Greater Good” is an espionage thriller produced by Shine Pictures (“Eastern Promises”) and Kudos (“Broadchurch”). The pic will be helmed by Bharat Nalluri, who was the originating director of the series.

Written by “Spooks” collaborators Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, the film will be produced by Jane Featherstone and Stephen Garrett, who were behind the TV series for the BBC, and Ollie Madden (“Sherlock Holmes”) for Shine Pictures. The cast includes series regular Peter Firth with further casting to be announced at the Afm.

In the film, a terrorist escapes from the custody of Mi-5, the British intelligence service, during a handover. The head of counter-terrorism is blamed, and then disappears himself. His protege is called in to help uncover what happened. »

Afm slate also includes Brit-List sci-fi The Call-Up, horror The Last Word and a documentary about alt-rock band Pulp.

Altitude Film Sales is to bring five market debuts to the American Film Market (Afm) next week, including spy-thriller Spooks: The Greater Good - a feature version of the BAFTA-winning BBC TV series that ran for 10 series from 2002 to 2011.

Bharat Nalluri, who was the originating director of the TV series (known as Mi-5 in the Us), will take the reins of the feature that will shoot in the first quarter of 2014.

The film opens when terrorist Adam Qasim escapes from MI5 custody during a routine handover and head of counterterrorism, Harry Pearce, is blamed.

When the disgraced Pearce disappears one night off a bridge into the Thames, his protégé Will Crombie is called in to help uncover what happened. With a devastating attack on London imminent, Will finds himself on the trail of a conspiracy that stretches »
