‘One thing I like about mysteries,” wrote Fran Lebowitz, the grandest of commentators, in the New York Times, “is that they end. Which is true of so little else.” Speaking for myself, I am still bereft after the not-really-over ending of S-Town, joining a great tradition of inconclusive podcasts (Serial, Missing Richard Simmons). They have an excuse, though, in that they’re about real people, whose lives rarely do end tidily.

Image Source: Getty / Michael Buckner After an '80s heyday of toning tushes on tapes, Richard Simmons continued to be in the pop culture stratosphere for decades, until recently. The lively fitness guru would appear on late-night segments, would teach classes at his Beverly Hills studio, and was always ready to pose with fans for a picture. Then, in 2014, he stopped showing up for classes. He stopped talking to his friends. He no longer bounded out of his home to meet buses full of tourists - he didn't leave his home at all. The disappearing act has become the subject of a hit podcast, Missing Richard Simmons. It's hosted by Dan Taberski, who, above all, seems genuinely concerned about a generous and caring man who he had come to think of as a friend. While we're still not exactly sure what Richard is up to or if he'll emerge any time soon, »

It's safe to say everyone misses Richard Simmons. The last time the fitness guru made a public appearance was in February 2013. However, the topic of his disappearance has been making headlines lately due to some recent health issues as well as a podcast called Missing Richard Simmons, which has documented Dan Taberski's mission for solving why Simmons has gone Mia from the public eye for over the last three years. The cause for question is definitely legitimate. After all, he ghosted his ever-popular multmillion-dollar fitness empire and simply shut down his work out studio.
