Director Ernest Dickerson Recounts the Story of Casting Tupac In 'Juice'

13 July 2015 2:07 PM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

"Juice" was Ernest Dickerson's feature film directorial debut, released in 1992; he also co-wrote the script with Gerard Brown. After being behind Spike Lee's camera, as cinematographer on just about all his film's up until that point, with "Juice" Dickerson had seemingly arrived as a director at the front of what was then (early 1990s) an exciting new wave of black filmmakers who would go on to make hay over the following years. It was also the film that introduced Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur (who was, at the time, an *unknown* as a roadie and dancer for Digital Underground) - both in breakout performances, joined in front of the camera by Jermaine »

Seven Character Posters for 'Dope' Plus Details on Its '90s Hip-Hop Soundtrack

3 June 2015 2:22 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Photo: Open Road Films Of all the films coming out this over the course of the summer, Dope is easily one of my most anticipated. Following a trio of nerdy, '90s hip-hop obsessed high schoolers growing up in a tough Los Angeles neighborhood, Dope was widely praised at Sundance, and distributor Open Road seems quite confident in Rick Famuyiwa's coming-of-age comedy-drama, which ups my interest even more. The studio is devoting quite a bit of attention to the film, releasing numerous trailers and clips online, as well as several TV spots to try to ramp up anticipation ahead of Dope's wide release on June 19. Now Open Road has debuted character posters for the film's main players, including Shameik Moore, Kiersey Clemons, Tony Revolori, Zoe Kravitz, A$AP Rocky, Chanel Iman and Blake Anderson, all of which you can check out below (via Fandango). I personally think they're pretty cool, »

31 March 2015 12:19 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

There's something about characters from our childhoods rapping to sick beats that is so entertaining. A few weeks ago, someone made a Dinosaurs-Notorious B.I.G. mashup, and now, courtesy of YouTube user isthishowyougoviral, the Muppets have taken on Digital Underground's 1990 hit, "The Humpty Dance." It's the same person who brought us the Muppets singing Beastie Boys and Rowlf's version of Biz Markie, so you know it's good. »

Ever wish The Voice‘s Blind Auditions were shown in strict chronological order?
