Dabangg 2 Music Review

After Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar have battled it out theatres, we can now shift gears and return to that ‘other’ hugely awaited gem Dabangg 2! The anticipation has always been there, but the promotions have been lying low until the teaser trailer and “Dagabaaz Re” were released last week. Our lovable rogue Chulbul Pandey is back, fighting off more villains and romancing his wife Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha). The promos have increasingly been impressive, with Sajid and Wajid back as music directors for this huge film. When Dabangg to came out, it was hailed as a gamechanger, because it brought back that 80s masala revival and a rustic and desi sound that has made its way on nearly every album since. Thus, Dabangg 2 is keenly awaited on all counts, and Sajid and Wajid pitch in a good effort with this album.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is

Tezz Music Review

Tezz marks the return of Priyadarshan after quite some time, his last release being Aakrosh that did not fare so well. Like Aakrosh, Priyadarshan has divested of his usual comical outings (Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Hungama and Hulchul) and gone for an action-suspense-thriller starring Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgan as leads. Zayed Khan, Sameera Reddy, Kangana Ranaut and Boman Irani bring up the supporting tier of the ensemble with a rumoured appearance by Malayalam acting legend Mohanlal. Trailers and promos of the film thus far have looked more than promising and therefore one expects the music to reflect same.

Sajid-Wajid (Dabangg, Housefull 2 and Wanted) have composed for Tezz while Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed have penned the lyrics. The 10-track soundtrack features the vocal talents of Shreya Ghosal (‘Chikni Chameli’ – Agneepath), Shaan (‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh‘ – 3 Idiots), Mohit Chauhan (‘Sadda Haq’ – Rockstar), Sunidhi Chuhan (‘Ishq Sufianna’ – The Dirty Picture

Tell Me O Kkhuda Music Review

Tell Me O Kkhuda not only marks the debut of one of Bollywood’s most beloved divas, Hema Malini’s directorial debut, but also marks Esha Deol’s return to the screen after a hefty break alongside legends such as Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor and father Dharmendra Singh Deol. But whether Bollywood’s once dream-girl turns dream-director is a conversation for a different day.

By the looks of the promos and trailers, Tell Me O Kkhuda tackles an unseasoned topic for Indian Cinema and therefore gives composers and in particular lyricists a whole lot of different and intense emotions to deal with. How the various composers and lyrists achieve that with Tell Me O Kkhuda “is” conversation for today.

The soundtrack consists of seven tracks, three of which have been composed by Pritam (Mausam and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai) and the reminder by other composers amongst which are

Fwa website: now register scripts online

A writer from a far-flung area in India had to travel to Mumbai to register his/her script with the Film Writers Association. Not anymore. Now one can just log into fwa.co.in, the official website of the Film Writers Association and register his/her script in a matter of minutes. Not just that, a writer can create his/her profile and choose to display the synopsis of his/her script for the benefit of directors and producers.

The launch of its official website recently is Fwa’s attempt to establish a closer connect with its members who are spread across the length and breadth of the nation. Jalees Sherwani, President Fwa says—“In an age when all the information is available online, Fwa would be lagging behind if we don’t upgrade. A poor chap has to travel from Punjab to Mumbai to register his script which costs him a lot.

Composers and lyricists oppose Mumbai Hc verdict

Composers and lyricists oppose Mumbai Hc verdict
Music composers and songwriters in Mumbai will soon challenge a Mumbai High Court decision that was passed last week in Supreme Court. The verdict says that Indian Performing Right Society Limited (Iprs) that safeguards the copyright of music composers and lyricists is not entitled to claim or demand royalty or license fees from FM Radio channels for the songs and music they broadcast.

They voiced their concerns in a press conference on August 2, 2011 in Mumbai which was attended by Javed Akhtar, Ravi Shankar Sharma (Chairman – Music Composers Association of India), Anand, Vishal Bharadwaj, Sameer Anjaan, Loy (Shankar Ehsaan Loy), Ram Sampat, Jalees Sherwani (President – Film Writers Association), Anand Shrivastava (President – McAi), Milind Shrivastava, Sajid-Wajid, Sulaiman, Lalit Pandit, Surender Sodhi, Aashish Rego and Shameer Tandon.

The decision of the High Court effectively means that there is no copyright incorporated in a sound recording and that it is owned solely by the music label.
