Ann Sheridan, "The Oomph Girl" (top); Ann Sheridan, Ronald Reagan in Sam Wood‘s Kings Row Ann Sheridan, the determined, humorous, sensual 1940s Warner Bros. star, is one of my favorite movie toughies. Sheridan was also a first-rate comedienne (I Was a Male War Bride) and in the right role was a capable dramatic actress (Angels with Dirty Faces — except for the hysterical scene). [Ann Sheridan Schedule.] Unfortunately, there are no rarities. No Woman and the Hunter, Just Across the Street, or Fighting [...] »

Roman Bohnen, Errol Flynn, Ann Sheridan are anti-Nazi fighters in Lewis Milestone‘s World War II drama Edge of Darkness (1943) Eleven Errol Flynn movies and a 2005 documentary about the handsome, dashing actor are being shown today, Saturday, August 7, on Turner Classic Movies as part of TCM’s "Summer Under the Stars" series. Since Errol Flynn was a Warner Bros. star and TCM is part of the Time Warner megaconglomerate (and before that, Turner owned the rights to the WB library up to 1948), Flynn flicks have a been a TCM staple from the get-go. Flynn did star in some movies in the 1950s that are really hard to find — e.g., Adventures of Captain Fabian (1951), Lilacs in the Spring (1954), and King’s Rhapsody (1954) — but those will remain hard to find as TCM isn’t presenting any of them. Instead, you’ll have the chance to see (once again, most likely) [...] »
