NBC have released a new thirty-second promo for their upcoming Heroes revival, Heroes Reborn. The clip puts the spotlight on Robbie Kay's 'Tommy' (an awkward teen who just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams) and showcases his impressive skillset. This appears to include the ability to teleport other people away - as he demonstrates with Zachary Levi's antagonistic 'Luke' and Judith Shekoni's 'Joanne'. NBC’s upcoming event series Heroes Reborn is set to bring back many of the original cast members of Heroes, although there are several noticeable absentees from the revival. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, creator Tim Kring has revealed that while the availability of the actors had an impact on who returned, the main criteria was the requirements of the story – and that included the death of a major character from the original show. “The story was really the thing that dictated who would come back,” said Kring. “The show was always designed to be very elastic in its premise. Heroes Reborn will get a two-hour opening episode on NBC, on Thursday the 24th of September...

Just a very brief Heroes Reborn update here - the show is getting a two-hour opening episode. This feature length premiere will kick off the 13-episode series revival on Thursday the 24th of September, on NBC. 

Masi Oka, Jack Coleman, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Cristine Rose are among the original cast members to return for the new season, while Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Henry Zebrowski and Gatlin Green will portray a whole host of new characters.

Heroes Reborn's synopsis tells us that the new episodes will “reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season, where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities.”

'Heroes Reborn' Gets a 2 Hour Premiere This Fall

Fans who are anxiously awaiting the return of Heroes Reborn were given some good news today, as NBC announced that the show will kick off with a two-hour premiere on Monday, September 24. As a result, the Season 3 premiere of The Blacklist will be pushed one week to Monday, October 1 at 9 Pm Et. Following the two-hour premiere of Heroes Reborn will be the series premiere of The Player, starring Wesley Snipes, at 10 M Et.

NBC also announced that Heroes Reborn will air its two-hour premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month. The premiere will be part of the film festival's new Primetime program, which will screen six different TV shows from around the world, with Heroes Reborn set to be the only major broadcast series that will be showcased. Toronto brass on Thursday paid homage to arguably the most dynamic and provocative content format in entertainment, announcing the festival’s inaugural slate of six TV projects from the likes of Baltasar Kormákur, Jason Reitman and Lucía Puenzo.

The selections highlight what Tiff director and CEO Piers Handling called a “cross-pollination” of the film and TV worlds from international storytellers, broadcasters and streaming services.

The six selections appear below. All are world premieres except The Returned, which is an international premiere.

While there are a lot of new shows that will be debuting this fall, there are also ton of returning ones, as well as shows that are now coming back after having finished their original runs. One of those shows is NBC’s Heroes Reborn, a limited event series that is a continuation from the original Heroes, which ended back in 2010. Heroes Reborn will be mostly telling the stories of new people, but also feature some returning favorites. Two of the new faces we will be seeing in Heroes Reborn are Ryan Guzman and Judith Shekoni, who will be playing Carlos, a former tortured solider who will become a type of hero, and Joanne Collins, a vigilante and the wife of Luke Collins (played by Zachary Levi), respectively.
