Janet Shaw was born on January 23, 1919 in Beatrice, Nebraska, USA as Ellen Martha Clancy Stuart. She was an actress, known for Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Jezebel (1938) and Waterloo Bridge (1940). She was married to Williard Ilefeldt. She died on October 15, 2001 in Beatrice.

After signing a seven year contact with Warner Bros. in 1937, Jack L. Warner changed her stage name to Janet Shaw.
Began her acting career using the stage name of Ellen Clancy.
With her parents, she moved to Los Angeles as a teenager, graduating from Beverly Hills High School.
Decided at the age of three that she would be an actress, after seeing Douglas Fairbanks Snr in "Robin Hood".
Best known for her supporting role as the waitress Louise Finch in Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt (1943).
