Fox 2013-2014 Full Schedule Preview With Trailers And Images

14 May 2013 10:12 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Fox has one of its better slates coming your way with the new season, especially if you take the midseason shows into account. Some of these shows may not jump out at you now as must-see, but some of them are going to take over, if I’m any judge anyway.

Clear showcase offerings Dads, Almost Human, and Us & Them are guaranteed to take off early. Almost Human has J.J. Abrams recognition to pull people in, though it looks to be a show that could flounder after a few episodes, even if I hope it doesn’t. The other two are going to become hits. Unfortunately, we have to wait until mid-season for the Gavin & Stacey remake.

Rake also looks like a winner, as long as the translation can be made to work as an Americanized product, and the show actually delivers what made the Australian original so brilliant.

On Monday Fox unveiled their primetime slate for the 2013-2014 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The network announced 5 new comedies, 4 new dramas, a first event series, and an animated comedy from Seth MacFarlane.

Some of today’s most inventive directors working in film have smoothly segued from motion pictures to series TV and their new shows have found a home at Fox. What caught my attention were the sci-fi, fantasy shows bearing the names of Abrams, Shyamalan, Kurtzman and Orci.

Among the network’s lineup is M. Night Shyamalan’s new event series Wayward Pines. Set to premiere in 2014 and based on the best-selling novel, “Pines,” by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines is an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Also on the Fox schedule is the »

Of course I was excited about these new Fox shows as soon as I learned about their Fringe provenance, but Wait Until You See These Trailers. It’s hard to get a real feel for a show just from the synopsis, but I’m including the new upgraded synopses for each so that you have all the information.

It appears that Sleepy Hollow will premiere early fall on Mondays at 9, following Bones at 8. After an initial run of Bones episodes, Almost Human will take the Mondays at 8 slot, in “late fall”.

But Oh The Trailers.

9 May 2013 11:00 AM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Atta Fox, well done. They have announced their new series pickups, and they include two shows we’ve been following. In fact, they are two of the series we were most excited about, so Woo Hoo! Both come from former Fringe executive producers, and one features a favorite movie star, whose latest movie premieres next week…

That would be Karl Urban, Star Trek‘s Bones, and his show is the project formerly known as Inhuman, then just Human, and now/currently Almost Human; it’s the buddy cop robot show. Executive producers are J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Fringe, etc etc) and J.H. Wyman (former Fringe showrunner).

The other is Sleepy Hollow, the modern-day retelling version we’ve been telling you about, from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers, Fringe). Here are the details from Fox, via Deadline:

The 2013-14 primetime season is starting to take shape, with Fox handing out series orders to four dramas.

The new entrants encompass a legal vehicle toplined by Greg Kinnear, two cop shows — one set 35 years in the future, the other among present-day gang unit — and a time-travel fantasy “Sleepy Hollow.” Fox is clearly leaning toward guy-friendly fare to build on the momentum it has developed this season with the gory serial killer drama “The Following.”

Kinnear plays a criminal defense attorney with a self-destructive personal life in Sony Picutres TV’s “Rake,” a redo of a Australian series.

Karl Urban Will Lead The J.J. Abrams – J.H. Wyman Robot Cop Fox Drama

14 March 2013 9:14 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Today’s headline has got me in full geek mode. Karl Urban, who was a minor lead in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and who plays Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the Star Trek films has just taken the starring role in the exciting action-drama pilot Fox is planning, which partners two cops, one human, one A.I.

This is the most exciting news yet for the untitled pilot to be delivered by J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman, whose previous collaboration was the series, Fringe. We announced it when we learned that Michael Ealy would rock the pilot as Dorian, a robot partner assigned to Karl Urban’s all too human character, John Kennex.

Also in the THR update was this delicious morsel. The working title for the pilot, which I really hope goes to a full series order, is “Human”. I like that a lot. It’s very simply, »

Fox Robot Drama Teams J.J. Abrams, Fringe Producer & Michael Ealy

28 February 2013 1:03 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Fox is developing a very intriguing new drama series, which puts a futuristic spin on the classic buddy cop concept. There’s no word yet on the title of the new series, but it will follow a human police officer and his robot partner. J.J. Abrams is teaming with Fringe producer, J.H. Wyman to make this action fueled project a reality, and they’ve just made Common Law actor, Michael Ealy, one the show’s stars.

I must say, this one has me jumping up and down for joy. According to THR ,Ealy, who I’ve always said has very nice eyes, is the first person to be cast in the Fox show.

Ealy will play Dorian, the android partner of Lapd officer John Kennex. Dorian understands more about humanity than his human partner does. I’m quite sold on this idea. It sounds like a win to me.

In the reality of the show, »
