There were raised voices and frayed tempers prevalent across the nation as corruption and intolerance reached an all-time high. Given the milieu Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron(Jbdy) chose to laugh away the bruise…There is a sharp zaniness about Jbdy which serves as a scathing antidote to the growing sense of collective dismay that the nation faced as extremism and inflation hit the nation hurling it towards damnation.

2nd Pune Short Film Festival from 29th October

The 2nd edition of the Pune Short Film Festival (Psff) will host 53 shorts from 10 countries. The festival will run from 29th October to 1st November, 2012 at the National Film Archive of India, Prabhat Road, Pune.

Entry is free on first come first served basis.

The festival will be inaugurated on 29th October at 11am by the chief guests Abhijeet Gholap, Meghraj Rajebhosale and Vikas Patil. While the prize distribution will be held on the last day at 1pm. The awards will be handed over by chief guests Rajesh Pinjani and Satish Jakatdar.

Digitally Restored “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” to release on November 02, 2012

Nfdc Cinemas of India in association with PVR Director’s Rare will re-release the digitally restored version of Kundan Shah’s cult comedy “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” on November 02nd , 2012,  in PVR Cinemas across 11 cities including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Gurgaon. The film will be released in digital 2K format.

A dark satire on the rampant corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, news media and business., the film comprises an ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Satish Shah, Bhakti Barve and Neena Gupta. Released in 1983, the film  resonated very well with the audiences for its superb satirical depiction of the essential, timeless, human condition, supreme self-interest and some moral/ethical anchor.

Commenting on the occasion, Director of the film, Kundan Shah, said, “Hats off to Nfdc and PVR Director’s Rare for taking this initiative to re-release my film. »

Sonu Sood joins cast of Prabhu Dhevas next

The versatile Sonu Sood has been signed for Kumar Taurani's forthcoming film which also happens to be the launch pad of his son Girish Taurani. Prabhu Dheva is directing the project which features Shruti Haasan as the leading lady. The buzz is that Sonu's role in the film has an action element to it. Besides Girish, Shruti and Sonu, the film stars a host of supporting actors such as Randhir Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Poonam Dhillon, Satish Shah, Govind Namdeo, Zakir and Nassar. The film is being currently shot in Mumbai. »

Prabhu Dhevas next goes on floor

The mahurat shot of the debut film of Girish Taurani (son of veteran producer Kumar Taurani) took place yesterday in Mumbai. The as yet untitled film is a musical love story directed by Prabhu Dheva and has Shruti Haasan paired opposite Girish. Speaking about the emotional moment, proud papa Kumar Taurani said, "Yes, we had the mahurat shot of Girish's film yesterday in Mumbai. We will now be shooting a song in Mumbai and then will be travelling to Himachal Pradesh for a schedule." Commenting on the cast of the film, Kumar Taurani said, "Besides Girish and Shruti, there are a host of supporting actors including big names like Randhir Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Poonam Dhillon, Satish Shah, Govind Namdeo, Zakir and Nassar. We are also introducing 2 new girls- Aanchal Singh and Pankhuri Awasthi. The music of the film is composed by Sachin-Jigar and lyrics have been written by Irshad Kamil. »

Akshay Kumar launches first look of Shawn Arranha’s next Tukkaa Fitt

Aap Entertainment’s Tukkaa Fitt seems to be one film that will set the box-office registers rolling. Or so it seemed with the trade and the entertainment industry thronging to be part of this Aap Entertainment venture’s First Look Unveiling.

The auspicious moment was at the hands of Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and a horde of other celebs at Novotel Hotel, Mumbai on May 11. The team of the film had a special bond which was apparent. Director Shawn Arranha was visibly excited on the response the film received. The unveiling of the poster was graced by the entire team together.

Mumbai, Jan 4: Archana Puran Singh has been an integral part of the popular comedy show 'Comedy Circus' since 2007 and fielded all the punches releated to her with a smile. But it seems enough is enough for the her and she has apparently decided to quit the show as the judge.

According to a source, she has been in talks with the channel officials about quitting the show for some time, and has finally decided to walk out of the Sony show.

Archana continuoulsy judged the show for 13 seasons with celebrities like Satish Shah, Johny Lever, Shekhar Suman, Rohit Shetty, Ajay Jadeja, Tusshar Kapoor and Daler Mehndi joining. »
