The late William G. "Glenn Shadix" Scott was born April 1952 in Bessemer, Alabama. He attended Birmingham-Southern College for two years. He lived in New York City prior to moving to Hollywood in the late-1970s. He made his film debut appearance in the poorly received remake of _The Postman Always Rings Twice_ before he got his breakthrough film role in Tim Burton's _Beetle juice (1988)_. He played the part of Otho, the pretentious interior designer who dabbled in the paranormal. Tim Burton went on to cast Glenn as the voice of the Mayor of Halloween Town in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and Senator Nado in Planet of the Apes (2001). Notable television credits include NBC's Seinfeld (1989), and HBO's Carnivàle (2003). On September 7, 2010, Glenn accidentally fell at his condominium in Birmingham, Alabama, and died of blunt trauma to his head. He had already mobility problems and was wheelchair-bound. he's survived by his mother, sister and brother-in-law.

Frequently cast in Tim Burton's films.
Underwent gastric-bypass surgery in April 2002 with the help and support of Michelle Phillips and Carnie Wilson. He has since lost over one hundred pounds.
Former neighbor of Xander Berkeley in the 1980s when the two lived in neighboring apartments in Hollywood.
Was offered his role in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) while swimming in the backyard pool of Tim Burton. The two have been friends since working together in Beetlejuice (1988).

Glenn became close to Tennessee Williams in 1977, during his work as a Production Assistant on "Vieux Carré" at the St. James Theater in Manhattan. The star was Sylvia Sidney, who Glenn later costarred with in Beetlejuice (1988) and renewed his friendship. Spent long hours at the Monkey Bar at the Èlysèe Hotel with Tennessee where he prepared Glenn for the pitfalls of fame and notoriety as well as his philosophy of artistry.
Lost his Victorian-era home in Bessemer, Alabama, together with all of his belongings, in a 2008 house fire.
Second cousin of John Rothman and Tom Rothman.
Living in Toluca Lake, California, while still taking on various roles in film, television and cable-network productions. Also touring the United States and abroad for fan conventions. [February 2004]
