Tall, serious-looking British character actor, formerly a graduate of Sandhurst military academy and member of the Black Watch. Resigned his commission in 1932 and joined the chorus of the Drury Lane Theatre as a specialty dancer. Later turned to films, usually in small supporting roles. Had one noteworthy hit as the titular star of Patrol Car, playing real-life detective Robert Fabian.
