Scottish-born comedian Craig Ferguson is preparing to celebrate the 1000th episode of CBS' The Late Late Show later tonight (or is that early tomorrow morning?), and to commemorate the auspicious occasion we've decided to offer up a couple of very funny videos in this article that showcase the late night host and comedian at his [almost] best.
Ferguson took over the show from Craig Kilborn in 2005 and it's been a straight up rise to the top ever since, with most polls voting Ferguson the best late night talk show host in either the 11:30pm or 12:30am time slot.
Expect Tuesday's episode to be raucous and typical of Ferguson's irreverent, perspicacious delivery. "Those incorrigible bags o' fun, 'The Late Late Show' puppets, will take over the show for the 1000th episode," CBS said in a news release.
"Wavy, the crocodile puppet, will serve as the host of the »
Over the past couple weeks, I have watched The Muppets cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" about 20 times. Few things have the ability to make me truly nostalgic, but suddenly I was seven years old, watching the Muppet Show in my pajamas. While we are still a couple of years away from Jason Segel's The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, Jim Henson's creations seem ready to make a comeback now, and this time they are doing it Christmas style. The MuppetsStudio channel on Youtube has released a new video, this time featuring The Swedish Chef, Beaker and Animal singing "Carol of the Bells." Now, these three aren't exactly the most coherent group, but they still rock the house none the less. Move over Trans Siberian Orchestra, The Muppets are encroaching on your territory. Enjoy the video below. »
Animation films, whether it’s the new school CGI or old school hand drawn, have always been popular with kids of all ages and in recent years, have become fun for adults to watch as well; so, it’s no surprise to read a story over at Variety announcing a new CGI feature film involving Jack Black. Writer Jason Micallef pitched an idea to Illumination Entertainment which is an extension of Universal headed by Chris Meledandri.
Micallef’s pitch in set in the world of Cryptozoology, which is the study and search for unknown, yet often talked about, animals or beings. My guess is it will include “monsters” like the Yeti, Sasquatch, Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster and maybe even mermaids or dragons. Black, who at one time was thought to be voicing a character, will now only be producing with business partner Ben Cooley via their production company Electric Dynamite. »

Neil Patrick Harris is adding "director" to his list of skills.
"Directing 'Himym' this week. Equal parts overwhelm, education, and exhilaration," Harris tweeted Thursday night. "But directing while acting in a scene - very strange. Meta."
The episode, which will likely air Jan. 18, will mark Harris' debut as a director. It will also be a rare "Himym" installment not directed by Pamela Fryman, who has helmed all but a handful of the 97 episodes that have aired so far.
Peet -- who Harris touted as a possible guest to reporters shortly before she signed on -- will play an attractive colleague of Marshall's at Gnb in the episode. Marshall then gets upset when Lily (Alyson Hannigan) refuses to get jealous of her. »
It's that Black List time of the year. While Top Tens flutter the airwaves with the most notable films of the year (and decade), it's also time to learn about the features we haven't gotten to see -- the best unproduced screenplays of 2009. Entertainment Weekly has released Franklin Leonard's Black List Top 10 (+1 in a tie). The winners came from 97 scripts, mostly newcomers, with a few notable names mixed in as well, most now in production or close to it. Topping that off, Nikki Finke has got the list in its entirety, which you can catch peruse over at Deadline Hollywood.
The first on the list isn't too surprising, considering the big Muppet revival lately -- The Muppet Man. Written by Christopher Weekes, the script delves into the life of Jim Henson, the man responsible for bringing us both The Muppets and Sesame Street. I imagine this is one of the sure bets, »

Though it was reported earlier today that New York Yankee Nick Swisher was the only member of the World Series-winning team set to guest on an upcoming episode of "How I Met Your Mother," sources tell Zap2it that an offer is out to starting pitcher Cc Sabathia as well.
Word is, producers wrote a part for him too, and there's a strong possibility that he'll be stopping by McLaren's bar with his buddy Swisher.
The episode they're expected to cameo in -- titled "The Perfect Week" -- will probably air Feb. 1.
Swisher and Sabathia are supposedly putting a strain on Barney's infamous game, threatening to ruin his "perfect week" by distracting a potential female conquest.
One lady they won't have their way with? Barney's ex, Robin. I'm hearing she actually shuts Swisher down. Ha.
Maybe 'cause he's not a hockey player?

Next Tuesday, December 15, marks the 1000th episode of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" on CBS. You care about this because, among the other guests, Ferguson will get some time with "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star Jason Segel. It's actually a little bit more than that. Segel's appearance on the show will be a musical one: he'll perform with his puppet Dracula and the band The Broken West.
Some background might be in order here for those who haven't yet seen "Sarah Marshall." Segel's character in the movie writes a Dracula-inspired rock opera for puppets entitled "A Taste for Love." The song he'll be performing on "The Late Late" show, "Dracula's Lament," is from that rock opera, and The Broken West will be his backing band. Got it? Check out the video after the jump... that ought to clear things up.

Lindsay Lohan, we really applaud your efforts. After a trying year, you’ve (very recently) come to realize that there is more to life than bed and bar hopping. Reports came out today that you are on your way to India to film a documentary with the BBC about child trafficking and children in poverty.
But is Lindsay really the best person to be shedding light on these issues? She was just featured half-naked, simulating sex in a photo spread for Muse magazine, shown walking home from Jason Segel’s apartment early in the morning in La, and has battled a slew of drug and alcohol related problems in the past!
And some people with strong ties to Indian culture don’t want Lindsay to be their spokeswoman!
One 27-year-old woman of Indian descent, who lives in New York, wonders, “What the heck? I don’t particularly think Lindsay Lohan »
The Mean Girls star sent internet gossips into a frenzy after the paparazzi snapped her leaving Segel's Hollywood home on Saturday morning.
But Lohan, who split from her DJ girlfriend Samantha Ronson earlier this year, is laughing about the fact the duo's business meeting has been mistaken for a romantic rendezvous.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Haha. Now a meeting at a co-worker's home has turned into a new love interest! It's absurd! At least I'm laughing at the rediculous (sic) manifestations."
She responded to comments about kissing Warren in a club, stating, "(It's) absurd. He is married. I wouldn't dare kiss him." »
Lindsay Lohan was spotted leaving Jason Segel's home in the Hollywood Hills on Saturday morning after apparently spending the night. He stepped out shortly after, clutching the doll he featured prominently in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She was quick to shoot down any rumors of their being romantic, going on Twitter to write that she thought it was funny to be linked to someone she's working with. Their project is unknown, but it's not the first time she's been associated with the How I Met Your Mother star - during another of their recent nights out at the Chateau Marmont, he was apparently overheard telling friends, "Don't judge me because I'm sitting with Lindsay Lohan." The Chateau was also the setting for her Nsfw photo shoot for Muse magazine, but she was at the Roosevelt Hotel solo on Saturday. The 23 year old was linked to Entourage actor Kevin Connolly last week (begs30Nov09), with U.S. magazine In Touch claiming the pair had been enjoying secret meetings since they were introduced at a party thrown by Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Mean Girls star, who split from longtime girlfriend Samantha Ronson earlier this year, was also recently rumoured to be dating Scottish actor Gerard Butler - but she now appears to be romancing Segel.
Lohan was spotted leaving his Los Angeles home over the weekend, as the comedy actor attempted to distract the paparazzi.
Segel was most recently linked to actress Chloe Sevigny, after they were seen getting close at a post-Emmy Awards party in September. »
After being romantically linked to Kevin Connolly and Jessica Alba's husband Cash Warren, Lindsay Lohan was rumored having a special relationship with another man. This time, the 23-year-old was said hooking up with the Marshall Eriksen of "How I Met Your Mother", Jason Segel, after she was snapped leaving his West Hollywood home on Saturday morning, December 5.
Gossip Center claimed the ex-girlfriend of deejay Samantha Ronson was seen going out from the pad at about 7:00 A.M. along with her assistant. Moments after Lindsay left the venue, the 29-year-old actor was said making his exit with carrying a puppet from his 2008 movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". The night before, the two were seen partying together at the house.
The photos which saw the "Labor Pains" beauty going out from Jason's house raised speculation that the actress had spent a night at his house. However, the rumor was soon denied »
Mila Kunis is about to be all over the big screen with roles in the comedy Date Night and the dance film Black Swan, and she's out promoting her projects with a sexy shoot for December's Blackbook Magazine. In her interview, Mila talks about her work in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, kissing Natalie Portman, her interest in marriage, and whether Macaulay Culkin will be the lucky guy. Here's more: On her one semester at UCLA: "It’s not to say that I’ll never graduate, It’s just that college wasn’t for me." On her character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall: "When Kristen Bell and I got the script, we met with Jason Segel, and we talked about what these characters would do in different situations, how they would react. We talked and talked, and then they tailor-made the characters for us. Rachel is very close to me. To my personality, »
There are times in this busy world when I forget just how cool The Muppets are. Randomly mention the beastly little guys and gals, and I'll smile politely, vaguely remembering the good old days. Put them in front of me, however, and it's a challenge to not let out a real world, ear-breaking shriek of squee. I don't care how long they've been around -- The Muppets are cool, and they are no cooler than when they're delighting in the epic grandeur of rhapsody ... Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," that is.
We all know the song. It was pretty epic in its own right, and then soared to new levels in Wayne's World, where it grabbed the #2 spot on the Billboard charts almost two decades after its release. Now the MuppetsStudio on YouTube have released the ultra-awesome clip you can see after the jump -- an arseload of Muppets singing the »

It hurts me to say it, but it looks as though the rule of the funny-big-redheaded-bearded Jew is over. It was only a year ago that Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and Jason Segel were the go-to-guys for the R-rated comedy, but Apatow's most recent directorial project, Funny People, did not have the same nearly the same kind of success as its predecessors, earning only $51 during its seven week run. One thing that fans did latch on to in the film, however, was Aziz Ansari's character Randy, who played a major role in the viral marketing prior to the film's release. Obviously impressed by Ansari's performance, it seems as though Apatow has found his new muse. According to Variety, Universal and Apatow have picked up three pitches from Ansari and Human Giant co-star Jason Woliner, who will also direct the projects. The first film is a spin-off based on the »
Hollywood celebrities can't compete with the canine stars of the Fido awards for dogs in cinema
In Hollywood, awards season is already in full swing, although it's at least three months until the Oscars ceremony. The big news so far is that, in a year in which the Best Picture category has been extended from five nominees to 10, the scaling down of the big studios' specialty divisions has led to the inevitable consequence of there being significantly fewer awards-worthy pictures.
Such concerns were far from the minds of the dog lovers who attended the third annual Fido awards, honouring canine excellence on the big screen, held yesterday at London's BFI Southbank. Who cares about the impact of the fiscal crisis on Hollywood when tails are still wagging on the big screen?
There may no longer be film franchises to rival those family friendly staples Lassie and Rin Tin Tin, but »
