Fans of Modern Family and American Horror Story (and Friday Night Lights) may want to make plans to see Conception when it becomes available via On Demand (VOD, iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly, and Vudu) on February 24. It's touted as a "a clever, romantic comedy that proves it takes more than sex to make a baby" and follows follows "nine very different couples on the night they conceive, showing that sex can sometimes be more neurotic than erotic." The ensemble cast includes Emmy-winner Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) and Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), and one of the couples in the film just happens to be a lesbian couple (though, no, they aren't played by Bowen and Britton).
In this exclusive clip from the upcoming film, partners Tay (Pamela Adlon, Louie) and Nikki (Moon Bloodgood, Terminator Salvation) discuss who will birth their baby through artificial insemination and who will be the supportive partner. »

Several premium cable shows have been cancelled over the past few months but Californication keeps hanging in there. The show's just been renewed for a sixth season on Showtime.
Californication follows novelist Hank Moody (David Duchovny) as he battles his personal demons and tries to overcome writers block. In season five, the narrative jumps forward two years and Hank is back in Los Angeles, writing a screenplay for a hot new film property. Others in the cast include Evan Handler, Madeleine Martin, Natascha McElhone, Karen Moody, and Pamela Adlon.
The half-hour show returned on Sunday, January 8th, and was paired with Don Cheadle's new series, House of Lies. Californication brought in a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 758,000 total viewers. That was on par with the show's demo rating for season four's opener but about a 100,000 fewer viewers. »

Want to talk about sex? If not, you probably don’t want to bother with the new trailer for Conception because getting busy between the sheets seems to be on everyone’s mind.
There must be something in the bottled water that everyone’s drinking in Hollywood because sex and babies are dangerously close to becoming a big screen trend. In addition to What to Expect When You’re Expecting, comedy writer Josh Stolberg is bringing in a lot of familiar faces for the story of nine couples that all end up in the same place – expecting the pitter-patter of little feet. From virgins that learn it only takes one time to the couple that turns to artificial insemination, all roads lead to pregnancy and parenthood… and one poor big screen TV pays the ultimate price at one point. I’m still in shock over that scene. Poor TV.

Comedy writer Josh Stolberg (Piranha, Good Luck Chuck) has corralled an impressive company of TV stars for his latest directorial effort, the ensemble rom-com Conception. The film focuses on nine sets of couples with nine different motivations, whose sexual misadventures land them all in the same place: pregnancy. Filling out the sprawling cast are some of TV's most winsome players, including: Friday Night Lights/American Horror Story's Connie Britton, The League's Jason Mantzoukas, Suburgatory's Alan Tudyk, Warehouse 13's Aaron Ashmore, Louie's Pamela Aldon and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and Julie Bowen. Even David Arquette makes an appearance, playing a kindergarten teacher who is easily flustered by the birds-and-the-bees savvy of his young students. This sexually frank romantic-comedy seeks to explore the goofy.and sometimes greasy.routes to conception by zeroing in on the night each couple conceives, whether accidentally.as is the case with »

Tom Kapinos got back to basics in Californication Episode 5.3, “Boys & Girls.”
If I could sum up all of Hank Moody’s (David Duchovny) flaws in one all-encompassing statement, it would read: Hank Moody has a knack for screwing up good things.
In “Boys 7 Girls”, Hank finished up Samurai’s (RZA) “Santa Monica Cop” script in what can only be called record time. He was hoping to drop off the script with Sam and hop on a flight back to New York City. However, Sam wanted to read the script before he left and Kali (Meagan Good) needed someone to take her dancing. It was an all too obvious setup, when Sam inevitably asked – or rather ordered – Hank to take Kali out for the night. Sam even gave Hank his car. Really? He told someone who is relatively a stranger to take out his drop-dead-gorgeous girlfriend. Plus, Sam has read Hank »

As Mike Tyson once said, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."
Well, Hank Moody's plan to turn down Samurai did not go as scripted, but somehow taking a punch from Peter Berg came across like a fitting moment in this week's "The Way of the Fist." Just like driving a Porsche with both headlights intact seemed out of character for Hank last episode, it didn't really feel like the season was under way until Hank got into fisticuffs with someone.
Despite the fresh shiner, Hank still seemed off his game when he decided against telling Becca about Tyler's extra curricular activities at the club. The overly protective Hank has given Becca numerous reasons to hate him over the years, so why in this case would he care about hurting her one more time if it served to only benefit her in the end? My guess »

When we first see our frowzy anti-hero, he’s alone, smoking, pacing back and forth in the men’s room of an upscale New York restaurant, rehearsing…something. “You’re amazing, a goddess, a gift from on high.” Is it a poem? A marriage proposal? Has he finally found a love so powerful and true that it’s remedied his hitherto cankered existence? No, of course not. Later, face-to-face with the delusional woman who somehow didn’t see this coming, he finishes the thought. “You deserve the white dress and the happy ending. I’m just not the guy to give it to you.” Hank Moody is the same man he’s been since day one—insincere, kind of a jerk, closetful of black clothes. Season five of Californication picks up two years after the events of season four (hey, I guess the world doesn’t end in 2012). Karen (Natasha McElhone) is now married and apparently happy »
