In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, original “Baywatch” producers Michael Berk and Douglas Schwartz spilled a particularly juicy set secret: A young Leonardo DiCaprio was almost cast as David Hasselhoff’s son.

“We actually had DiCaprio ready to be cast,” Berk told THR, “But David thought he was too old to play his son.”

According to Schwartz, Hasselhoff thought DiCaprio’s casting would make him look older. “He had a lot of concerns of that type,” Schwartz admitted. Jeremy Jackson, six years Leo’s junior, was cast instead.

Baywatch Almost Derailed Leonardo DiCaprio's Movie Career

1 July 2016 2:52 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Next year, the iconic TV series Baywatch makes the transition to the big screen with a new reboot starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. The original series is among the most successful of all time, running for 11 seasons between 1989 and 2001, turning stars Pamela Anderson and the rest of the cast into household names. A new retrospective on the original series reveals quite an interesting revelation, that Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio was almost cast on the show when he was just a teenager.

Before he went on to make Oscar winning blockbusters, Leonardo DiCaprio's career began on the small screen, with roles on the 1990 TV series Parenthood and a recurring arc on Growing Pains. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that, at just 15 years of age, the actor auditioned for the role of Mitch Buchannon's (David Hasselhoff) son, Hobie Buchannon, but David Hasselhoff himself "nixed" the casting. ‘Terminator’ Sequel Pulled from 2017; Trilogy Unlikely

20 January 2016 2:44 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Paramount Pictures has set a May 19, 2017, release date for Dwayne Johnson’s “Baywatch,” replacing “Terminator 2” — which has been dropped from the schedule.

Terminator: Genisys,” the franchise’s reboot starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke,” grossed only $89 million domestically last summer before slightly rebounding overseas to $350 million. It was also a misfire with critics, scoring a weak 26% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Skydance, which co-financed “Terminator: Genisys,” had originally planned a new trilogy with Paramount but said in October were “re-adjusting” after the disappointing ticket sales.

Paramount announced in 2014 that it had the dated “Terminator 2” for May  19, 2017, and “Terminator 3” on June 29, 2018. Under rules, North American rights to The Terminator franchise would revert back to creator James Cameron in 2019 — 35 years after the original “Terminator” was released.

As for “Baywatch,” Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and newcomer Ilfenesh Hadera are starring with Johnson in the  movie reboot of the 1990s television show “Baywatch. »
