21 March 2013 5:27 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Cinelinx sings the song of angry men with the fantastic new Les Miserables Blu-ray!

The Set-up

In 19th century France, an ex-prisoner named Valjean (Hugh Jackman) finds his purpose in life when he agrees to care for the daughter of a factory worker (Anne Hathaway). Also stars Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried. Based on the Victor Hugo novel and the musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg.

Directed by Tom Hooper

The Delivery

This phenomenal adaptation of the beloved musical manages to surpass expectations on every level. From the incredible set design, to the outstanding performances, to the stirring renditions of the songs fans have come to love, Les Miserables is everything you could ask for in a movie musical.

I do not consider myself a fan of musicals in general; I find most are unable to deliver both acting and musical performances worth noting. I do admit to »

Oscars 2013: And the winners of the 85th Academy Awards are...

26 February 2013 2:12 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last night the stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California for the biggest night in the film calendar as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented the 85th Academy Awards. Going into the ceremony, it was Steven Spielberg's Lincoln which led the field with 12 nominations, but the big winner on the night was Ben Affleck's Argo, which claimed the coveted Best Picture award, as well as Best Film Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay.

With Affleck out of consideration for Best Director, it was Ang Lee who took home that award, with Life of Pi going on to claim a further three Oscars (the most of any film this year) - Best Music (Original Score), Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. As expected, Daniel Day-Lewis claimed Best Actor for his role in Lincoln (which also claimed Best Production Design), becoming the first person in history »

Oscars 2013 Live: Winners & Losers Listed In Full

24 February 2013 9:02 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

This evening’s Oscar ceremony is now over, and with the dust settling on the biggest awards ceremony of the entire year, and the winners and losers celebrating and commiserating together, we’ve put together a full list of the winners (as well as the beaten nominees) for this year’s awards.

Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain nailed the red carpet, apparently, and Sandra Bullock did wonderful things with a diamond hair-clip, while Bradley Cooper and Chris Pine both proved that beards are very much the hot thing right now. But the big events were yet to happen inside the La venue, as the audience sat ready to receive host Seth MacFarlane, and his inevitably cutting humour.

For the most part, MacFarlane was reserved, though a few barbs did land before the end of the night. He played his part also in the excellent musical staging throughout the ceremony, whose highlights featured Shirley Bassey, »

Oscars 2013: Adele wins Best Original Song for 'Skyfall'

24 February 2013 8:39 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Just like Anne Hathaway winning Best Supporting Actress at the 85th Academy Awards, Adele was a shoe-in for Best Original Song. She still seemed surprised to win when she took the stage alongside Paul Epworth, though.

"Thank you so much. This is amazing," she said, coming close to tears as she listed off the many people she had to thank. "And my man, I love you, baby."

Adele left time for Epworth to give his thanks as well, but she couldn't resist tossing in a nod to all the other prestigious actors, directors and even songwriters in the Dolby Theatre there with them. "You're all amazing as well," she said as a farewell.

Also nominated for Best Song were J. Ralph for "Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice," Walter Murphy and Seth MacFarlane for "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from "Ted," Mychael Danna and Bombay Jayashri from "Life of Pi" and Claude-Michel Schonberg, »

Mama Nora deserves the win for her amazing performance in Lincoln. Furthermore, find out who else I think will take home an Academy Award this year!

Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook

Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln

The Oscars are almost here! The 85th Academy Awards is set to air this Sunday, Feb. 24., with host Seth MacFarlane. The award season has been very generous to films such as Argo and Silver Linings Playbook, but as many know by now, you can never quite be certain about who will win once the opening monologue begins. Who will take home Best Picture? Actor and Actress in a Leading Role? And what about Directing? We are breaking down the top 10 categories from the evening on who should win and who probably will.

Adele and her Oscars competition

The singer is the favourite to win the Academy award for best original song on Sunday night, but she faces stiff competition from Scarlett Johansson, a talking bear and more

No matter that she won the award for best British single, Adele didn't show up at the Brits at the O2 in London on Wednesday night. What could have been more important? Well, the Academy Awards, that's what.

It would be nice to have one of those on the shelf. Bob Dylan no less seemed especially pleased to have bagged the Academy award for best original song with Things Have Changed in 2001 after it featured in Curtis Hanson's Wonder Boys. "God bless you all with peace, tranquility and good will," he was even heard to quip to the academy. In her excitement, Adele tweeted when she heard she'd been nominated this year.
