This year, the studio has lined up an equally impressive program of events, highlighted by a worldwide Smurf Ambassadors initiative, in which over 40 ambassadors from 28 countries will represent Smurfs fans from around the world with a special day of events celebrating Peyo’s creation. In this sequel to the hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy The Smurfs, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. According to Box Office Mojo, Sony Pictures has pushed back its animated Popeye movie (which sees the iconic sailor man make his triumphant return to the big screen, complete with 3D). Originally set for a September 26th, 2014 release date, the adaptation will now hit theaters in an already crowded 2015. No specific date has been announced yet, but 2015 has plenty of competition in the form of The Avengers 2, Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, Star Wars: Episode VII, Finding Dory, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, and many more big films. Popeye will be directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (who most recently helmed Hotel Transylvania for Sony Animation). Screenwriters Jay Scherick and David Ronn (The Smurfs) were hired to pen the script last year. Are you looking forward to this movie? Follow @PaulRomCBM »

Alright, now that all of that Man of Steel business is over with, we can get to the real news. That guilty pleasure news. Many of you will (secretly) be excited to hear that Britney Spears will release her new song “Ooh La La” with The Smurfs 2, according to Sony.
Britney Spears told Sony that she wanted to surprise her kids with a song in the film. Spears said:
I have always loved the Smurfs as a kid and now my boys are the biggest Smurfs fans Ever. I wanted to surprise them with a song in the movie. I know they’ll think it’s Smurftastic!
Smurfs 2 director Raja Gosnell, not one to be outwitted with Smurf word play, said:
I am very excited that Britney is joining our smurfy adventure. ‘Ooh La La’ is the perfect Smurf-party song, and the perfect button on the film for audiences around the world. »
