Pemberton Fuels Scott’s Grisly Drug Dystopia

7 November 2013 1:00 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Director Ridley Scott has worked with some of the most famous composers in the history of movies, from Jerry Goldsmith (“Alien”) and Vangelis (“Blade Runner”) to Hans Zimmer (“Gladiator”) and Harry Gregson-Williams (“Kingdom of Heaven”).

But for his latest opus, “The Counselor,” a thriller by novelist Cormac McCarthy (“No Country for Old Men”), Scott chose someone new: Daniel Pemberton, a 35-year-old English composer who has spent most of the past 15 years penning music for British TV (“Upstairs, Downstairs”).

Pemberton had recently worked with Scott’s editor Pietro Scalia on a short film; plus Scott had liked Pemberton’s score for the U.K. thriller “The Awakening” two years ago.

The Counselor’s” grisly, drug-world saga led to the use of guitars (both acoustic and electric), but that’s just the start of Pemberton’s edgy, often industrial-sounding mix of traditional instruments with electronics. “I wanted to create a sound world »

New Look At Electro In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′

3 October 2013 1:36 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

We have loved director Marc Webb’s constant tweets throughout the production of The Amazing Spider-man 2, and the director continues to post little treats on his Twitter feed as he enters the post-production process on the film. Here’s Spidey himself Andrew Garfield in the edit suite tackling the mammoth task of putting together the big-budget 2014 spectacular. Of course, the pic shows Garfield jesting around with actual editor Pietro Scalia, the guy responsible for editing such films as Good Will Hunting, Gladiator and Prometheus. It great to see them all having a great time in the edit bay, but if you look up to the top left of the frame of the screen, you can see some concept artwork featuring Electro in full garb.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 is due in UK cinemas on 18th April 2014 and Us cinemas on 2nd May, 2014.

Andrew Garfield Visits The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Edit Bay In New Behind The Scenes Image

2 October 2013 8:14 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Director Marc Webb was a Twitter fiend during the production of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, sending out a photo from the set on his profile every single day of filming. Sadly the rate of behind the scenes pictures has significantly decreased as the superhero film has entered post-production. Now the filmmaker's Twitpics are a rare treat, and today he's gifted fans with the new shot that you see above. Set in the film's editing room, the photo comes with the message "Andrew Garfield kindly showing editor Pietro Scalia how it's done," and has the lead actor of the film motioning to some monitors. It's a fun tiny look at the post-production process and it's cool that Garfield would want to come in to see what's happening with the movie, but the coolest thing about this image is what is on display in the background: It's not the clearest, most high-resolution »

Amazing Spider-Man 3 Locks In Writers

2 October 2013 5:04 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

With the Amazing Spider-Man sequel set to hit cinemas next year, the producers are cracking on with plans for the third instalment, which already has a ticking clock release date of June 10, 2016 hanging over it. In the first official announcement for the movie, Sony has locked in Amazing Spider-Man 2 writing team Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner to crank out the script.Securing the services of Orci and Kurtzman in particular was wise if only for scheduling reasons: despite their critics, they’re extraordinarily busy writing movies such as the third Star Trek film, producing other projects (Universal’s Mummy reboot among them) and overseeing TV shows. The trio, including Fringe colleague Pinkner, took on the writing of Amazing Spider-Man 2 by working from James Vanderbilt's draft. As for the second film, director Marc Webb today tweeted a new image from behind the scenes of post-production as »
