Awesome New Images Of Andrew Garfield And Emma Stone In The Amazing Spider-Man

27 December 2011 2:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

In the past week, a lot of attention has naturally been focused on one of next summer’s biggest blockbusters, The Dark Knight Rises, as we got the immense first full-length trailer that pretty much drops your jaw to the floor.

The Nolan brothers’ conclusion to their Batman trilogy is of course not the only superhero blockbuster we can look forward to next summer, with Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man hitting our cinemas two weeks earlier at the start of July.

We got our first look at the film when the trailer hit back in July this year, and since then we’ve seen plenty of great posters, images, and banners. Marvel have now put out half a dozen brilliant new images from the upcoming film, via ComicBookMovie.com, and they give us another awesome look at the film’s leads, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.

High-Resolution Stills From ‘Frankenweenie,’ ‘Brave,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

24 December 2011 8:32 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Today we have some new images from major upcoming films. First up, we’ll tackle the smallest, with Tim Burton‘s feature-length adaptation of his black-and-white short Frankenweenie. We provided the first looks earlier this fall, but above we see another look at a boy and his dog. Former Burton collaborators Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice), Martin Landau (Ed Wood), andMartin Short (Mars Attacks) will lend their voices to Frankenweenie, which hits theaters October 5, 2012. Burton’s other big 2012 film, Dark Shadows, arrives in May.

Check out the image above and also, thanks to Stitch Kingdom, we have a new still from Pixar’s next feature Brave. The image comes from a scene we’ve seen in the trailer, for the film directed by Mark Andrews (who helmed the Pixar short One Man Band) and features Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), The Wise »

Marc Webb Discusses Approach on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

19 December 2011 11:46 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I was among the many scratching their heads at the promise of an “untold story” in The Amazing Spider-Man, a movie that’s almost obligated to lay out a tale anyone over the age of seven knows. But, a plot synopsis from the movie’s official site hinted at something that, while not untold in the world of comics, hasn’t come out on screen thus far.

A recent interview conducted with Empire (via Cbm) sees Marc Webb reiterating that approach, all while expanding upon some of the themes and giving us peeks at the action. (Because he was going to publicly say, “No, we’re just kind of selling you the same thing again.”) The meatiest quote on the plot can be read below:

“It’s not a remake, we’re not making Sam’s movie again. It’s a different universe and a different story with different characters. »

Glossy New Batch of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Photos and Story Details

15 December 2011 12:30 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Although the only summer blockbuster that seems to be in focus right now is The Dark Knight Rises (with the trailer and prologue hitting select theaters today), there is another that is close behind in terms of my personal anticipation. Coming off (500) Days of Summer, director Marc Webb has leveled up to Sony’s big reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. The studio has launched a snazzy new site which has a batch of news photos as well as a few story details of the film starring Andrew Garfield.

First up is a synopsis, which is heavy on daddy issues. Sony is also really pushing the “untold story” aspect to differentiate from Sam Raimi‘s trilogy. Then we have character synopsis from our main players, with nothing terribly new except for Parker “unlocking the mystery.” Check it out below followed by the new photos.

New The Amazing Spider-man movie poster

13 December 2011 12:25 AM, PST | Upcoming-Movies.com | See recent Upcoming-Movies.com news »

Check out a new poster for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans. After catching up with The Amazing Spider-Man at this year's Comic-Con, we knew this was much more special movie than the Sam Raimi incarnation starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. A darker journey which looks like it will be well-worth visiting, and a refreshing take after the tired film franchise (thankfully) came to a halt. The film helmed by Marc Webb of (500) Days of Summer-fame, opens July 3rd, 2012, with a cast including Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan and Denis Leary. Alvin Sargent, Steve Kloves and James Vanderbilt wrote the script based on the characters by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee. »

Looking back at Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3

22 November 2011 2:17 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

After two great comic book movies, the Spider-Man series stumbled with its second sequel. Andrew takes a reluctant look back at Spider-Man 3

Spider-Man 3 is a messy, crammed-to-breaking-point film with too many ideas and characters competing for space. If the film is a competition, it's difficult to say who the winner is. No one's actions make sense, from villains to heroes to chiefs of police to a weird old man who’s probably the Osborns’ butler, only no one's ever actually said so.

It really should, as screenwriter Alvin Sargent wanted, have been two films, with Sandman and Venom villains in each. The initial proposal, featuring Sandman as the main villain, would have featured Eddie Brock, and so Venom could easily have been seeded in Spider-Man 3 rather than dominating the (significantly poorer) second half of the film. Making one film, incorporating too many elements from the producer and director's suggestions, »

New Stunt Images of Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-man

20 November 2011 6:52 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

News has been quiet lately for director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, but these recent pictures prove the production is still swinging along. The (500) Days of Summer-director might be pushing his star Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) a little too hard, as the actor was seen stemming a nosebleed on set the other day. It might be part of Peter Parker’s nerdy persona to have a tissue stuffed up his nose, or perhaps it was a hazard of Garfield’s stunt work earlier in the day. The star was seen in an all-red bodysuit and sunglasses descending on a zip line; his stunt double finished the shoot by jumping over the hood of a car. The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Rhys Ifans (Anonymous) was also seen on set sporting a slimy looking hand. Hit the jump to see the photos. Courtesy of the DailyMail, you get to see pictures »

Andrew Garfield Studied Spiders for His 'Spider-Man' Role?

29 August 2011 11:18 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I can't help but get a chuckle out of the idea of Andrew Garfield studying spiders for his upcoming role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man as this following quote from Garfield surfaced at Hero Complex: "So I studied spiders, I studied their movements and how they operate in the world and I tried to incorporate as much of that as I could. He's a boy/spider in terms of how he moves, and not just in the suit. It also shapes the way he interacts with people. A spider is so sensitive; their skin is sensitive to everything. That's the thing with the spider sense and the way he takes in everything. Imagine all of your skin was as sensitive as a spider, the slightest gust of wind would feel like a tornado going by. You'd always be rushing, that rush. What does that do to you? »
