Local 'Drag Race' Diva Dishes On Reality TV Success

5 April 2012 3:09 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

When it comes to Chicago-based drag queen Dida Ritz, what you see is, more or less, what you get.

The popular Logo reality competition series "RuPaul's Drag Race" has become virtually synonymous with the sort of side-eyed spiciness stereotypically ascribed to the modern drag performer's persona. Its weekly "Untucked" web feature consists of the queen-on-queen altercations that don't make the main episode's final cut. But throughout the season, Dida was one of a number of contestants who preferred, instead, to stay out of dramas and instead focus on bringing her best effort to the stage each week.

Though Dida was eliminated at the end of the show's ninth episode, this queen, the child of a pastor, is hardly one to hold a grudge. She has emerged from her stint on the Logo series ready and raring for her next adventure. HuffPost Chicago recently spoke with the budding drag diva.

9 March 2012 4:30 AM, PST | Look to the Stars | See recent Look to the Stars news »

PETA and Bob Barker welcomed a host of stars at the grand opening of PETA’s new Bob Barker Building, named in honor of the longtime animal advocate who donated $2.5 million for the renovation of the historic structure in Los Angeles yesterday.

Among those attending were Angela Simmons, Carrie Ann Inaba, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Owain Yeoman, John Salley, Christian Serratos and Grammy, Golden Globe, and Emmy Award–winning songwriter Diane Warren.

“It’s an unbeatable combination: Bob Barker, L.A., and animal rights!” says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. “We are excited to open PETA’s West Coast headquarters and add ‘animal rights epicenter’ to the description of this entertainment capital.”

The 25 Most Random Celebrities At The Same Party Ever

29 February 2012 12:06 PM, PST | BestWeekEver | See recent BestWeekEver news »

Norby Walters is not necessarily someone I would want to be friends with. For starters, he’s a sports agent. Despite my raging “Plantar fasciitis,” I am no athlete. Back in 1988, Norby was convicted of fraud and racketeering after he signed college players to professional sports teams before it was legally allowed. Despite my penchant for Scorcese crime flicks and a dude I once made out with who just got out of Rikers, I don’t often associate with criminals. He also kind of looks like my cousin Edith who passed away years ago. I loved Edith but there’s only room for one in my heart. And yet, taking allll of these things into consideration, my mind is made up: I want to be friends with Norby Walters. Why, you ask? Simple. Judging by the characters who attended his 22nd Annual Night Of 100 Stars Oscar Viewing Party, he »

Jaimie Etkin: 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Recap: The Queens Take The Ring

7 February 2012 9:15 AM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 4, Episode 2 of "RuPaul's Drag Race."

We kick things off with a whole lot of shade for Jiggly Caliente, who nearly went home last week. In memoriam of the first queen to go, Alisa, apparently Jiggly deemed to necessary to wear a slashed, off-the-shoulder top a la Sammi on "Jersey Shore."

Jiggly is worried that the other queens are doing more than just reading her: "I feel like there's a target in the back of my head and all these bitches are trying to assassinate me," she says.

But ooh, gurl: We got SheMail. Ru's come to pump up the girls and says it's time for some necessary roughness (just don't hurt the face).

For the mini-challenge, the queens have to literally make asses of themselves. They have 30 minutes to use a whole lot of foam, packing peanuts and the »
