Given the success of Warner’s Archive program, we’re thrilled to see other studios scouring their vaults for content aimed at the discerning cinephile. Here’s a release showcasing the latest coming from MGM via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment:

Los Angeles (April 14, 2011) – Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing even more classics to DVD in April through its unique “manufacturing on demand” (“Mod”). The newest group of films will be part of the MGM Limited Edition Collection and available through online retailers. The vast catalog ranges from 1980’s Defiance to 1965’s four-time Academy Award® nominated A Thousand Clowns.

Blu-Ray Review: Raging Bull 30th Anniversary Edition – What Classics Should Aspire To

Hard to believe that it has been 30 years since Robert De Niro pulled the original Christian Bale method-acting-insanity trick and hung the health consequences to balloon in weight for the role of Jake ‘The Bronx Bull’ La Motta. But blu-ray boxes don’t lie (pffft!), and this week’s 30th Anniversary Special Edition Blu-Ray is pretty firm evidence.

But, can we start with the cover? The film features some of the most iconic images in cinematic history- one of which the Special Edition DVD cover took advantage of to such success- and yet this celebratory edition features a bloated close-up image that looks more like a bad wax-work of Sylvester Stallone. Bad decision.
