Alan Sacks was born in 1943. He is a writer and producer, known for Welcome Back, Kotter (1975), Du-beat-e-o (1984) and Thrashin' (1986).

He's a broadcasting professor at the Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys, California.
He is Chairman of the Media Arts Department at Los Angeles Valley College.
He won the EMMY for The Color of Friendship (2000) as well as the NAACP Image Award and Humanitas Prize 2000.
